Holiday Weekend Reminders! 🐢🇺🇸 If you're heading to the beach this weekend, please remember to be respectful of the local wildlife, especially the sea turtles who are nesting and hatching right now. The nights surrounding 4th of July often have a record number of false crawls and disorientations reported due to increased beach activity, including fireworks and items left on the beach (pictured below). Some other reminders:
🚤 While boating, be aware of surfacing/mating sea turtles and other marine life that may be in the area
🎆 Fireworks are NOT allowed on nesting beaches in Florida
👣 Leave Only Footprints: remove all personal belongings, furniture and trash from the beach each night
🔦 White lights from flashlights & cell phones can scare off nesting turtles and disorient hatchlings
⚠️ Holes on the beach are hazardous for people and wildlife. Fill in holes and flatten sandcastles at the end of your beach day
