Movement is essential to your health.
Has working from home got you sitting way more than you used to? You’re not alone and you’re not to blame! The direction our society is moving, the way we work, and even the way we seek entertainment has got us sitting on our 🍑 a lot. Like a LOT LOT.
Human beings were designed to move. You need to keep your mind, body, and soul active and connected to continue to thrive.
And ya know what? You deserve to thrive! If you’re not feeling your best, it could very likely be due to lack of movement.
Find a form of movement that you enjoy and can do consistently, and see how much better you start to feel.
Not sure where to start? Come move with us! Get our New Member Special - 2 weeks of unlimited classes for $25! Head to the link in our bio to check it out and get moving 💪

Who’s ready to sweat it out with us?!
◦Ok ok we don’t actually think you’re a stupid son of a B 😂 . . . . . but we do want to help you understand that lifting weights is not going to make you bulky. In fact, lifting weights is the best way to get you to that “toned” look you’re going for.
While cardio plays an important role in any training program, excess amounts of it is not the ideal way to lose body fat. The more cardio you do, the more efficient you become at it. As your efficiency improves, you’ll burn less calories with the same amount of work. This is great if you’re training for a marathon, but not if your goal is to lose body fat.
In strength training, the time you spend training does not have to continually increase to see results. There are so many variables that can be changed to allow for continued progress: sets, reps, tempo, load, the list goes on!
Lifting weights helps to build lean muscle mass. The more lean muscle mass you have, the better your body becomes at burning fat, along with a multitude of other benefits.
Need help getting started in the weight room? Check out our New Member Special - 2 Weeks of Unlimited Classes for $25! We’d love to work with you. Click the link in our bio to get the deal.
Sometimes we like to break a mental sweat, too. 😅

With so many options out there, fitness can feel intimidating without some guidance. Where do I start? Who can I trust? Am I doing it right? These are only a few of the questions that might come up in the beginning of your fitness journey.
If any of these resonate with you, check out these helpful tips!
1️⃣ Find a qualified coach to teach you the how and why behind exercises.
2️⃣ Set goals based on how you want to feel and perform as opposed to how you want to look.
3️⃣ Join a fitness community that will support you and have fun with you along the way!

The fitness industry has come a long way. Even since we opened our doors 5 years ago, we see more women wanting to get strong every day - which is amazing! But alas, the work is not done yet. The fitness world is still saturated with cardio crazes, fad diets, and the beliefs that “more” and “harder” are always better when it come to exercise.
Let’s get more ladies lifting weights 💪🏽💪🏽
The list above is not exhaustive by any means! What are your favorite benefits of strength training?
Monday reminder: when it comes to exercise, SOMETHING is always better than NOTHING.
It all adds up in the long run, and it’s ALWAYS worth it.

Setting your mind to something and seeing it through to the end is certainly something to be proud of.

It's International Women’s Day!
A day that is all about empowering women and promoting equality.
When it comes to fitness, we have seen a dramatic change over the past decade. Particularly in regards to women and strength training.
In the past, women lifting weights - particularly heavy weights - was very uncommon. For most women, going to the gym was a way to get "skinny" and building muscle was rarely seen on their list of fitness goals.
Women were warned that if they lifted heavy weights, they would become big and bulky rather than lean and strong.
While much of this misinformation is still pervasive, it's getting better, and we hope we have played our little part in this positive change to empower women to be stronger, happier, and healthier.
Some days you do the pushing, some days you need a push!

We take education very seriously at Heat. We believe that continuing education is vital for the success of our business, our team, and our beloved members. The same holds true for the Black Lives Matter movement. Our first step towards taking action will be to educate ourselves and open the dialogue within our community.
We hope you will join us on July 8th at 7:30pm for a discussion on "White Fragility" by Robin Diangelo. This book club will be held via Zoom so you can join from anywhere! Please sign up in MINDBODY, the Zoom URL will be emailed to the class roster on July 8th.
The book is in high demand right now (which is great!) so please purchase yours as soon as possible if you plan on joining the book club. Audible, Kindle, and ebook versions are available as well if you can’t get your hands on a hard copy. We look forward to learning together!
Motivation occurs in motion.
Struggling to find motivation to do....well, anything? We feel ya. Often times when we feel like this, the thought of getting motivated seems about as attainable as walking on the moon. “If only inspiration would strike, everything would be so much better!”
You know the days when going to the gym is the absolute last thing you want to do? Somehow you muster up the strength to drag yourself to class then feel like a million bucks when you’re done? Of course you do. We all do!
While quarantine isn’t making this any easier on us, it’s still possible to feel better!
Sometimes you just need to get started. Once you get moving, you will start to feel more motivated. Then the more you move, the more motivated you will be, and so on.
Even if it feels like torture, get moving! Start small. Create your own motivation!
