The paper "Synthesis of a model phyllobilin bearing an optical marker" has been selected as the cover art for the New Journal of Chemistry, Issue 27, dated 21 July 2024 Royal Society of Chemistry
The cover art represents a characteristic conjugation contained in the southern rim of phyllobilins - important natural products derived from chlorophylls - and is mimicked in a synthetic analogue.
The paper is authored by researchers NC State Chemistry and their collaborators.

McDonnell Distinguished University Professor of Chemistry at Princeton, discussed “The Development of Asymmetric Organocatalysis and Metallaphotoredox” in his laboratory. Analytical Chemistry Seminar Series: Jovica Todorov - NC State University (Sombers Lab)
Sharon Haynie is the first woman to have received the Henry A. Hill Award in 2006 and the Percy L. Julian Award in 2008. Haynie is a biochemist who attended the University of Pennsylvania for her undergraduate degree. Haynie, whose main focus was in biochemistry and advanced inorganic chemistry, completed a work study as a freshman in organic chemistry. After graduating with a B.A. degree in biochemistry, Haynie attended MIT and graduated with a Ph.D. in chemistry. Haynie became a member of the technical staff at Bell Laboratories and then moved to the DuPont Company Experimental Station Laboratory. Haynie has conducted research on developing synthetic materials and has isolated peptides with antimicrobial properties. Haynie served as a professor at Delaware State University and has mentored students through outreach programs that encourage education for disadvantaged students. Haynie is now a chair of the Philadelphia section of the ACS and is a member of the Chemical Heritage Foundation Board of Directors.
