The Department of Chemistry at Virginia Commonwealth University invites applications for a non-tenure-track assistant professor position in Analytical Chemistry to begin in August 2022. Primary responsibilities will include the management, supervision, and instruction of the analytical undergraduate teaching laboratories (Quantitative Analysis Laboratory (CHEZ 309) and Instrumental Analysis (CHEZ 409)) and the instruction of undergraduate chemistry courses as determined by department needs. We particularly seek applicants who are excited about teaching analytical chemistry to a diverse pool of undergraduate students and working with graduate student teaching assistants (TA) to create independent thinkers capable of addressing and solving the next generation of scientific and technological problems. Teaching effectiveness is the most important criterion for faculty evaluation and promotion and thus, applicants must be willing to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment, work effectively with graduate student TA’s, participate in curriculum development, effectively deliver course content, and be adaptable to multiple methods of content delivery.
