As we approach this day, November 5, Micah 6:8 offers us a timeless reminder of how we can live out our values each day: ‘To act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.’ This verse encourages us to seek justice, show compassion, and live with humility as we interact with one another and contribute to our communities. May this scripture inspire us to reflect kindness, integrity, and unity in all we do.
Micah 6:8
He has told you, O mortal, what is good, and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God?
Pray for our Nation today! The Lord is in charge. 🤍
Psalm 33:12 "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance"

Across North and South Carolina, relief item collections and recovery work continue in many Nazarene churches. Here's just a few scenes of emergency relief ministry across the two states this past week.

Lord Jesus, thank you for our pastors. Give them a fresh sense of what it means to belong to you and to be loved by you. Let this reality bring a deep renewal within them, and fill them with your perfect peace and rest. May they rejoice because they know they belong to you. David Busic, General Superintendent
Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Matthew 9:38
On this day 116 years ago the union of holiness groups that established the Church of the Nazarene was effected.
The official proceedings of the General Assembly in Pilot Point, Texas, USA, on October 13, 1908 provide the following account:
"In putting the motion, Dr. Bresee said that this was an epoch-making time. This is the answer to Christ's prayer, but it is only the early dawn, and we are going forth to victory. The motion being put, it was passed unanimously by a rising vote, amid great enthusiasm. The burst of holy joy continued for several minutes, brethren of the South throwing their arms around brethren from the North, East, and West.... Soon the inside of the tent became too small for the freedom of such a joy, and the people began marching out and around the tent, with waving handkerchiefs and shouts of joy, and eventually formed in an immense solid circle on the grounds, where Dr. Bresee mounted a chair and addressed the multitude with words of inspiration, which moved the hearts of all."
Fifteen years later, at the sixth General Assembly in 1923, this moment in 1908 in Pilot Point was officially designated as the date the denomination would point to from that time forward for its founding. The recommendation to the assembly read as follows:
"We would recommend that the time when the Second General Assembly of our Church met at Pilot Point, Texas, and three streams of the 'water of life' had their glorious confluence--one from the Pacific, one from the Atlantic, and one from the Gulf of Mexico--be recognized as the date when our Church wedding took place, and we were united as one people amidst scenes of rapture far transcending the possibilities of description. We would further recommend that the Board of General Superintendents be authorized and represented to fix the exact date of this great spiritual marriage and make all necessary arrangements for its proper observance throughout our Church."

This Sunday, October 13, we celebrate the official formation of the Church of the Nazarene 116 years ago. On this day in 1908, three Holiness Movement groups came together at Pilot Point in North Texas, forming a denomination with a mission to “spread scriptural holiness.” May we remember God’s faithfulness to the church over the years.
