Our speaker at the Rockport Garden Club informed us about how to plant and cut flowers to put in vases. She gave us some valuable information and invited us out to see her rows of flowers.
This lovely hydrangea flower sits beautifully in front of a massive color of greens. It greets you near the driveway and puts a smile on your face as you witness those blooms appearing. Some are bursting while others just beginning to appear. What a lovely flower!
Thanks to a gift from the West Rockport Fire Department, Martha Bouchard was able to spruce up the planter at the Rockport Post Office.
FLOWERS! FLOWERS! All over the place.
Title: Rockport Garden Club Guest Speaker Karina Shorten
Text: The Rockport Garden Club will hold its September monthly meeting on Thursday, September 5th with Karina Shorten as the guest speaker, starting promptly at 1pm. The program will highlight planning and planting your cutting garden. Planning a garden for cut flowers is a little different than your average landscape or perennial bed. Come learn all about the intricacies and unique needs for planning a garden just for cut flowers. From variety and seed selection, to spacing and watering, well cover it all! If time permits the talk will also cover harvest techniques.
Karina is from Sweethaven Farm, a micro flower farm in Union, ME, which supply pesticide free flowers to numerous local stores, and her famously bright and bold floral designs to inns and restaurants. She holds a degree in Social Anthropology from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, studying history and genocide.
The meeting will be held at the West Rockport Baptist Church at 545 Park Street., W. Rockport. The entrance is from the parking lot at the end of the building. The public is cordially invited, and the building is handicap accessible. Out of courtesy, please do not call the church for information.
Watering Andre's garden are Leslie Luther, garden member, and her granddaughter, Bellamy.

Message from Martha: "Each year I plant I LEEKS in my garden and last year I had a few scapes and this year I have them again. Two have not fully bloomed yet, but the one that bloomed is a beautiful pink/purple with tissue skin on top. Doesn't it look like a gnome? The lesson for you gardeners is: enjoy the beauty but cut the scape off at the base as it makes the leek itself tough."
Saw a cocoon of caterpillars close up!
Watch the gardens grow with a bit of happiness all around!
Andre Garden is looking lovely with the plants, black short metal fence and a nice wide apron. It adds so much to the beauty of Rockport Harbor!
What fun we had at the Mad Hatter's Luncheon. Garden hats and much laughter took over. Happy times!
There is still a lot of beauty showing at Guini Ridge all over the place. It's worth a visit to just stop in and look around.
Flowers, flowers everywhere! Such beauty sits waiting.
Gorgeous and lovely white wildflowers take over!
More Peonies for the Peony lovers!
