🌟 Child Abuse Prevention Month Spotlight 🌟
This month, as we raise awareness for Child Abuse Prevention, we are proud to shine a light on the incredible work being done at Pine Hills Children’s Advocacy Center in Ruston, Louisiana.
Pine Hills CAC stands as a beacon of hope and support for children and families navigating the challenges of abuse investigations. Their compassionate team works tirelessly to provide healing and resources, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to start a new chapter of safety and care.
Their services, including forensic interviews, family advocacy, and prevention education, are offered free of charge. They embody the belief that no child should be turned away because of a family's inability to pay.
Join us in celebrating the dedication of Pine Hills Children's Advocacy Center to protect and heal the youngest members of our community. Your work inspires us all! 💙

CAC Day at the Capitol!
Today, advocates from the Louisiana Alliance of Children's Advocacy Centers planted over 151 pinwheels at the Louisiana Governor's Mansion. Each pinwheel planted represents 50 children served at a Child Advocacy Center in Louisiana.
Each number is a life that they have touched, a story of resilience, and a step towards a safer future. 💙

Statement:
The Louisiana Foundation Against Sexual Assault (LaFASA) has learned that the St. Tammany Parish Coroner-elect made the decision to end the sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) program
in that parish, a decision that will reverberate across the region and impact survivors in St. Tammany and neighboring parishes. LaFASA is deeply concerned and disappointed by this decision.
SANEs provide essential, survivor-centered care to ensure that sexual assault victims who choose to receive forensic exams (sometimes called "r**e kits") are treated with dignity and compassion, and that vital evidence is collected in a way that meets national standards. Ending this program will compromise access to quality medical care and robust evidence collection throughout the region. The St. Tammany Parish SANE program has also historically been a lead agency in ensuring forensic exam access throughout the Northshore through state-mandated regional plans, in which the previous coroner’s expertise and commitment had led to a lead role. This helped to promote safety across parishes in the region, as we know that sexual violence does not stop at parish lines, and what impacts survivors in St. Tammany also impacts those in St. Helena, Washington, Tangipahoa, and all the nearby parishes.
If Dr. Tape becomes the St. Tammany Parish Coroner on March 25 as scheduled, we call on him to fulfill the office’s mandate to provide quality, compassionate, robust forensic examinations using the best available evidence and practices - continuing the SANE program.
