The Aim Higher Foundation

We provide tuition-assistance scholarships to children to attend a Catholic school.

The Aim Higher Foundation believes that all children—regardless of their background—should be able to access the life-changing benefits of a Catholic education.

Year-end is a good time to meet your 2023 philanthropy goals by directing grants from your donor-advised fund, but be sure to check with your sponsoring organization on deadlines.

Your sponsoring organization can also advise you on adding assets to your donor-advised fund to realize tax benefits and expand your capacity to support your favorite causes. Consult with your sponsoring organization for all the details on giving through donor-advised funds.

Each year, students in our school are supported through the Aim Higher Foundation. Earlier this week, we enjoyed a visit from President, Ricky Austin and Board Member, Margaret Requet (NDA Board Member & Alumni Parent) of the Aim Higher Foundation, who were delivering our scholarship awards for this school year.

We are grateful to be part of Aim Higher's amazing work and the gift of Catholic education that they give to so many. Thank you to all who make these scholarships possible.

We are grateful to our speakers, Archbishop Bernard Hebda and Andrea Urzua, our student choir, the Encalada family at St. John Paul II Catholic School, and all the sponsors and benefactors who made October 27th an unforgettable evening.

Andrea Urzua, an Aim Higher elementary Catholic school scholarship recipient who is now a junior at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, told a record 640 people at the organization’s 11th annual “Night of Light” gala that their support makes a difference in the lives of many Catholic elementary school students — including her.

The Aim Higher Scholarship is a $1,000, student-based scholarship awarded to K-8 students from families with demonstrated financial need. Once a student is awarded the scholarship, they will receive an additional $1,000 each year up to and through 8th grade as long as the yearly financial aid application continues to show need.

The 11th annual Night of Light surpassed our hopes and projections. Thank you for making this year's celebration one for the history books!

Not only did we have more guests than ever at the event (more than 640!), but thanks to record-breaking numbers of sponsorships, auctions, and fund-a-need donations, we raised more funds for our scholarship program than any other previous Night of Light! The more than $850,000 raised will drive our ability to award more scholarships to more students to attend a Catholic school next year.

On Friday night, we shared the story of the Encalada family who traveled to the United States in search of a better future for their children, Carlos and Keyla. We were humbled by the family's willingness to let us share their story, and we invite you to watch it now.

While our event has concluded, there is still time to make a gift in support of the children and families we serve. Know your donation will go straight to work to help more children like Carlos and Keyla access the safety, high expectations, and caring environments of a Catholic school.

We believe. . .

We believe Catholic schools provide an education that is second to none. They instill in children a higher purpose as they prepare for high school and college and a higher calling as they grow into leaders of their families, our church, and our society. In short, we believe Catholic schools give our children the tools to Aim Higher.
