Things seem to feel more and more normal to me these days. Though time does seem to get speeding up! But I digress. This note that our mothers in the US are not dying as often as they once did is a terrific sign of life moving in a healthy direction. I hope you too feel your life moving in a healthy direction. And if not, try making one small regular change to do so. Like just drink an extra glass of water every day! Be Well, be happy in your days!

Holiday Breakfast of Champions! With all the over indulgence that happens it’s good to give your body a break. Take a meal without carbs and it’s delicious. Soft boiled eggs over arugula that is tossed with olive oil and fig vinegar, topped with a bit of feta cheese salt and pepper. Wha-la! Hadley and clean up too. No greasy pan. I dump my water on my plants, it has a bit of calcium in it! ,aspirefertilitysanantonio, ,

THE POWER OF HERBS AND ACUPUNCTURE
I had a patient come in with a long list of complaints. A 40 yo male on disability from the VA. He had problems sleeping more than 2 hours, constant pain in both shoulder, elbows and his right wrist was so weak he couldn't pick up a mop bucket with it. He was very fatigued rating his energy level at 30%. He suffered from night sweats which further interrupted his sleep. Digestion was an issue too, with the inability to take a full meal. His belly would become distended and uncomfortable so he just didn't eat as much as he should. He had lost his sense of smell and taste 18 months ago after a Covid infection. Both is thighs and calves experienced constant tingling. He had palpitations usually at night when he was sitting still. And finally he felt foggy headed. Like his brain was in a fog and he couldn't think quickly or clearly. Somedays his fatigue was so bad he can't take his son to school.
There was a lot going on for this patient but one of the key factors for me was his digestion. His stomach felt tight and he reported that it make gurgling sounds after eating, he couldn't finish a whole plate of food and it was all worse if he had cold water when he ate.
The digestive system is like the center of a wheel which all the spokes radiating out to your detoxification, elimination, energy and so on. If you can't take in food in the right amount or if it doesn't get absorbed, it's like wondering why your car doesn't work when you don't put gas in it.
So that is where I started.
I did mostly localized acupuncture for the pain and I sent him home with a formula to help warm and descend his digestion. He came back one week later . He reported that he can now eat a full meal and can have cold water without any effect on his digestion. He was sleeping 8 and sometimes 9 hours a night with no night sweats. His energy was 75-80% and his foggy head improved by 80%. He had no heart palpitations since our fist treatment a week ago. All his pain had disappeared! Except his shoulder which now had dull intermittent pain versus the constant sharp pain he reported on his first visit. And he noticed that his smell had shifted slightly. I was amazed at how quickly his body returned to good health. Many of these complaints had been with him for more than 10 years.
Now I have to admit even for me, a 20+ year practitioner of Chinese medicine, I thought this was remarkable. Not every case resolves so quickly but this case does point to how incredible the body is when you get rid of elements like too much cold or heat and re-establish normal movement of the body. In his case it was getting the stomach to descend combined with warming his digestion. So simple and yet so powerful.
If this case struck a chord and you want to talk about how Chinese Medicine can improve your health, sleep, energy or pain levels call to book a free in person consultation. 210-999-5579

You have a reproductive micro biome! Everyone has colonies of bacteria living inside them. In fact we are 97% bacteria from a dna perspective. And each part of your reproductive system has its own unique biome make up. The s***m and egg’s biome impacts fertilisation, the uterine biome impacts implantation. Having the right balance of bacteria can influence your fertility. As Hippocrates said, “ let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”. How do we clean up our biome? First get rid of bad bacteria then repopulate with the good stuff through food and probiotics. If you are suffering from infertility especially due to unknown factors consider your own reproductive biome as an area to attend to!

You don't have to suffer. Acupuncture to the resque for your pain. Even Period Pain!!!Acupuncture is an effective and safe method of relieving dysmenorrhea, shortening the pain duration, and improving wellbeing and quality of life in women with endometriosis-associated pain
Acupuncture has shown effective in treating chronic low back pain. Several studies indicate its potential to alleviate pain and improve functionality, making it a valuable option for those suffering from back pain without having to take pain meds. Pain meds can create a number of other problems, from destroying your digestive systems ability to process the foods you eat and thus nourish and repair your body to addictions. Acupuncture's side effects are minimal such as bruising with other pleasant side effects like a sense of relaxation and calm by releasing your natural opioids which also reduce your pain. And despite the image of needles, they are so fine, like your body hair they are almost painless. And in some spots, like your back you generally don't even feel them go in! Call or Book Now https://enliven.simplybook.me/v2/
Acupuncture can really help with painful periods. It is a game changer. No women should be told that is just how your body is, when they are losing days ever month due to such severe pain. And ibuprofen or others NSAIDS are not the answer. Chronic use of them ruins your gut and often liver health. Acetaminophen overdose is one of the leading reasons folks go to the ER. Birth control can help but it comes with its own myriad of side effects like weight gain, headaches or even increased risk of blood clots. Acupuncture on the other hand offers pleasant side effects. Like feeling utterly relaxed, better sleep, improved mood and energy all the while getting rid of your painful periods. Check it out or share this with someone who needs support. Any ABORM acupuncture fellow can hand this quickly and effectively! ,

Gut health and infertility. Yes it is a thing and even if you don't have gut symptoms you could have a gut issue that can have a significant impact on your fertility. Check out this short 30 minute video for some immediate ways to improve your gut health and your fertility. https://www.linkedin.com/events/fertilityandtheimportanceofthee7107474599340052480/theater/
Acupuncture can really help with painful periods. It is a game changer. No woman should have to stop her life just because”that’s the way your body is!” Any other organ in the body thst cause you to miss work or not be able to drive or walk your dog due to the intense pain, well Western medicine would have looked deeper at it. Instead, if it’s your uterus you just need to live with it, take ibuprofen or something similar, which by the way ruins your gut health, or take birth control which comes with a whole host of side effects like weight gain, headaches or increased risk for blood clots. Acupuncture offers an alternative that has so many beneficial side effects like improved sleep, better stress management all the while stopping you period pain and getting literally days back every month. Check it out. Any ABORM certified acupuncturist will be able to address this. And it is so relaxing! ,

Coming from the land of peaches this is sad information. It's so hard to find organic peaches. This year I planted a local variety of peach tree, suggested by David Rodriguez of Tx AM. It produces a smaller peach but is highly resistant to most bug and disease so no need to treat with chemicals that can mess with your endocrine system or cause cancer! It takes a couple years to get them to produce once you plant but it is in my future.
Have you checked out this year's EWG Shopper's Guide? Testing showed alarming results for pesticide residue on peaches! Read more: https://ewg.life/3PcPaaj
Acupuncture can been incredibly helpful for pain, mood and even sleep. Luckily main stream health care is realizing it’s benefits and it is now covered by most insurance companies and even the Veterans Administration! You only need to find an in network provider ( like me 🙂). If you are a vet looking for support you would need to get a referral from your Community Care provider but after that it’s 100% covered! Acupuncture is almost painless. A mosquito bite has more pain! So don’t let fear of needles keep you from being the best you! ,

September is Pain Awareness Month. Dealing with pain conditions is an area that acupuncture and Chinese Medicine really shines. Like turning the light on inside, because we all know that dealing with pain on a daily basis is, well, depressing. It can make us crabby, irritable and just down right mean sometimes. So keep a look out for some great research on pain conditions and acupuncture in the coming weeks.
I am celebrating finally getting in network status with the VA. Did you know that in VA studies on vets they were able to achieve a 37 % reduction in pain meds after only a couple weeks of acupuncture? Did you know that 100% of the cost is covered if you go to an in network acupuncturist? Did you know that sleep is improved with acupuncture? Sounds like a good deal to me! Here is just one of several VA studies done at the National Institute of Health https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8392795/

Pain can make you grumpy. But long term pain killers can do a number on your gut health, detoxification system and overall energy. Acupuncture can be a great alternative for helping you stay happy, healthy and pain free. Not to mention it is a huge mood booster! ,

Looking and feeling our best has to do with 3 major systems. Digestion, detoxification and elimination. Many people come in and think they are healthy eating all the right things but really what they put in isn’t getting absorbed. Often they will be hungry all the time. Others can’t detoxify themselves well so something as simple as a scented candle or laundry detergent can make them feel off, sick or have headaches. Sweating is a great way to clear the system but sadly many of us don’t do enough to sweat well or other have a blockage that prevents them from really sweating. And how many folks have I seen who don’t even know if they poo everyday. You got to poo out the toxins otherwise they just get re absorbed. If we can keep these 3 systems functioning well health and wellness are ours! Make sure to get a “tune up” on your systems especially if you are hitting that 60,000 mile range! , , , , , , ,

Acupuncture is incredibly effective for getting rid of those monthly pains. In my practice I see an 80% reduction in 1-3 cycles. Look for a FABORM acupuncturist in your area for someone who has special training in reproductive medicine.
Well the last tip hasn’t been proven to help but it sure does make the whole process more fun! , , , , , , ,

Hard to believe over 20+ years working with women’s health and couples struggling with infertility. It has been a road with ups and downs as any fertility journey is likely to have. But I will say the joy of hearing, celebrating and watching the little ones grow is extraordinary. I feel as if I have been pregnant 100’s of times. After the work and dedication to lifestyle and Chinese medicine to watch the bellies grow has been nothing short of joyous. What a great profession! Never a regret and the journey of learning and practice continues. Here’s to another 20 years of supporting baby making! , , , , , , ,
