This we're kicking off PetSmart National Adoption Week (July 15th-28th) with an exciting announcement! 🎉 We are incredibly proud to have been selected to participate in FIV/FeLV Pilot Program! We are the only Texas-based rescue currently in the pilot.

With 10 FIV cats and 1 FeLV cat in our program, we aspire to find several of them loving homes during this pilot, which runs from July 15th to October 21st. This program allows us to bring our positively amazing FIV and FeLV cats to adoption events at partnered PetSmart stores and even stay in their adoption centers. This provides them with a fantastic opportunity to be seen by the public, allowing their wonderful personalities to truly shine! ✨

All the cats going to events and staying at our adoption centers are in good health, not showing any signs of illness, and will be closely monitored during their stays.

So, let's hear it for these fabulous felines like Luna, Mr. Peters, Gimli, Fog and Cousteau and wish them luck finding their furever homes!

Stay tuned for more updates and come meet these amazing cats at the PetSmart adoption events! We can't wait to find them their forever homes where they can shower their new families with love and purrs. 💖

🐾 It's , and today we need your help for some very special cats in our Community Cat Adoption Program. 🐱❤️

What do a cat with a wound above their enucleated eye, a kitten with a possibly broken front forearm with an infection, a kitten with multiple wounds on his chest, and a kitten with head trauma have in common? They are all recent intakes in our program, and each one is a special medical case requiring tailored care and vetting.

Three of these new intakes came to us from ACS after their urgent plea last week when they hit capacity. We are expecting two more special medical adults to be released to our care later this week. Though we hope their recoveries are smooth and without complications, they need your support to receive the best possible care.

Your donations ensure these deserving cats get the medical attention, love, and support they need to heal and thrive. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a significant impact on their lives.

Please help us help them today and interact with this post or share it. Together, we can provide the care they need and give them the chance for a brighter future.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity. 🐾❤️!

🌟 It's at SAFCC! In June, thanks to a purr-tastic donation from Tractor Supply Co., our fosters received much-needed cat food, purr-oviding a vital lifeline during kitten season. Your support ensures these whiskered wonders get the care they deserve without putting a paw in the foster's wallet.

If you'd like to contribute to our foster program by donating supplies, visit the Community Cat Adoption Program Wishlist here: https://a.co/dQyrIqv. Together, we can make a pawsitive impact for cats in South San Antonio! 🐾💙

🐾🌟 **$2 Tuesday Fundraiser! Help Us Save More Lives!** 🌟🐾

Remember the Bella Beauty kittens left dumped at Bella Beauty College back in May? Thanks to an amazing foster who stepped up, they are thriving! We now refer to them as the Teletubbie Crew! 💛❤️💜💚These four little ones were found on May 1st and have come a long way with the love and care they’ve received. 💖

But we can’t stop now. Our Community Cat Adoption Program (CCAP) needs your support more than ever. This time of year, many animals are abandoned, and without funding or fosters, we can’t intake more. Your donation can make all the difference.

💵 Just $2 can help provide food, toys, and medical care for our kittens. Fostering is one of the most rewarding things you can do, and we need fosters all year long!

Visit https://sanantonioferalcats.org/adoption/ to learn more about fostering with us. We provide everything you need; you provide the love. If you can’t foster, please consider donating from our Amazon Wishlist: https://a.co/dQyrIqv

Your generosity keeps our program running and saves lives. Thank you for being part of our mission! 🐱❤️

The Teletubbie crew is also ready for their forever homes! You can apply to adopt here ➡️ http://www.tinyurl.com/ccapadoptions.

🐾 It's , and today we're celebrating our Cat of the Month, Cousteau! 🐱✨

Want to keep up with our impact on the community, both for cats and people, and see our Cat of the Month features? Sign up for our newsletter! You'll receive heartwarming stories, updates on our programs, and opportunities to make a difference. You can sign up today on the bottom of our website homepage! https://sanantonioferalcats.org/

Join us this Special Needs Sunday in celebrating Cousteau and advocating for the wonderful cats living with FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). Cousteau was adopted as a kitten four years ago but was found abandoned this year and diagnosed with FIV during his re-intake veterinary exam. Now as an adult, Cousteau is a larger-than-life black cat with a loving heart and a dapper white tie adorning his chest! At over 15 pounds, he's a gentle giant overflowing with sweetness. Cousteau would describe himself as a full-time expert biscuit baker and part-time weighted blanket, enveloping you in a cocoon of calm and love. Cousteau is also quite playful, goofy, and eager to please. He even comes when called!

Together, we can rewrite the narrative and give Cousteau the loving forever home he truly deserves. 🐾❤️

This summer has been especially hot! Keep your feline friends safe and cool this summer with these Summer Safety Tips for Outdoor Cats🐾🌞

1. Hydration: Fresh, clean water is a must!

2. Shade & Shelter: Provide a shady spot to escape the sun.

3. Heatstroke Warning: Know the signs—panting, drooling, lethargy. Act fast if you see them! If you see a cat in distress, call your local vet or 311 for assistance.

4. Sunburn Protection: Use pet-safe sunscreen on ears and nose. You can also provide shelter to protect from the sun.

5. Paw Safety: Hot pavement can burn paws. Stick to grass or shaded areas.

6. Parasite Prevention: Stay up to date on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

UPDATE: As of 07/03 this shelter has been claimed!

Are you on the prowl for an outdoor cat shelter and fancy yourself a purrfect fixer-upper? The SAFCC Feral Shelter Program has been gifted a claw-some wooden shelter, but we lack the resources to restore it to its original paw-some condition. It’s FREE to the first feline-friendly responder who can whisker it away. Contact Robert at [email protected].

OR do you want a tote shelter but want someone else to make it for you? We will! Just provide a tote that's at least 31 gallons and we'll supply the rest of the materials and labor for a minimum donation of $20 each.

If you need extra straw? We have bags of straw for a minimum donation of $1/bag, no limit.

For more information and to claim your feline-friendly shelter, shoot Robert an email at [email protected] and include your phone number. Don't let your outdoor kitties miss out on these paw-some accommodations! 🐱✨

Photos from San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition's post 06/25/2024

🐾 It's , and today we're raising funds for a special kitten named Pippen! 🐱❤️

Pippen, a 9-month-old sweetheart, originally came to us for a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program when she was just 2 months old. But when it was time to release her, she simply sat beside her foster, looking up as if to say, "Okay, when are we going home?" Little did her foster know that Pippen would soon face a challenging journey with recurrent upper respiratory infections (URIs).

After numerous vet visits, we've discovered that Pippen's URIs are likely due to a soft tissue abnormality in her right sinus. The next crucial step in her journey is to get a CT scan to visualize exactly what the abnormality is, determine if it's removable, and hopefully proceed with a biopsy and a highly specialized surgery to remove the obstruction.

We hope that removing this obstruction will allow Pippen to live a normal, healthy life, free from the constant discomfort of URIs. However, without the CT, we can't move forward. The estimates for the CT scan alone range from $800 to $1200, and we expect the total cost, including biopsy and surgery, to exceed $2000.

Can you help Pippen live a full, happy life? Your donations will directly support her medical care, giving her the chance to breathe easy and enjoy life like any other kitten. Even a small contribution of $2 can make a big difference.

Please interact with this post and share it to spread the word! Together, we can give Pippen the future she deserves. Thank you for your kindness and generosity. 🐾❤️

🐾 It's , and today we want to highlight our Cat Crisis Fund, a vital program that provides medical care for feral and stray cats in need. Have you heard of it? This program is often requested but seldom receives dedicated donations.

Meet Callie, a young calico kitten who is one of our recent beneficiaries. A kind-hearted good Samaritan found Callie limping, unable to put weight on her front right paw, and with a squishy mass on her stomach. Thanks to the Cat Crisis Fund, we were able to get Callie the medical attention she desperately needed at Callaghan Road Animal Hospital.

Callie's wrist was found to be fractured but should heal with time. The mass on her stomach turned out to be an umbilical hernia, which was surgically reduced during her spay. Unfortunately, Callie didn't have a forever home to return to, but we were able to welcome her into our Community Cat Adoption Program.

Today, we ask for your support to keep our Cat Crisis Fund going strong. Callie's medical bill totaled $330.19, and your donations help us cover these costs and continue providing this crucial service to other cats in need.

Even a small contribution of $2 can make a big difference. Your generosity ensures that cats like Callie receive the care they need to recover.

Thank you for your kindness and support. Let's come together this to make a difference in the lives of feral and stray cats in crisis. 🐾❤️

Update: In loving memory of Helen, est 2011-July 19th 2024.

🐾 It's , and today we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible success of our events yesterday! 🎉

At our Stone Oak Adoption event, four lucky kitties found their forever homes and another three after the event. Our "Purrs and Poses" event with Black Swan Yoga was a delightful success, and the Pet Palooza Resource Fair connected many with valuable resources and support. We are so grateful for the community's participation and support!

Now, we turn to a more serious and heartfelt topic: end-of-life care and hospice fostering. Today, we honor Helen, a nearly 13-year-old cat who has faced incredible challenges with grace and resilience.

Helen lived in a colony for most of her life until 2 years and 9 months ago when she was found belly up, unable to use her back legs. From full paralysis, Helen made a remarkable recovery, regaining partial mobility though she never walked again. Her journey has not been easy and requires great patience and dedication. Over the past year, Helen has lost weight and more recently her health has been declining. She has become very picky about food, and our focus now is on keeping her as happy and comfortable as possible.

Thanks to our dedicated foster program, Helen has enjoyed nearly three additional years filled with love and care. Her foster knew from the start that she was likely providing Helen with her final home, embracing the profound responsibility of being a hospice foster. This role is no light undertaking, requiring immense compassion and strength.

Today, we ask for your positive words and thoughts for Helen and her foster. If you're able, please consider donating to support our program, including our hospice fosters who provide such critical care and comfort to cats in their final stages of life. Our Amazon wishlist today includes senior food as well as daily needs https://a.co/dQyrIqv

Your generosity ensures that cats like Helen receive the love and care they deserve, making their remaining time as joyful and peaceful as possible. Thank you for your continued support and compassion. 🐾❤️

Garfield wants you to reach for the stars in 2024!🌟✨He definitely is! Garfield is 3 years old and ready to be adopted. Whenever Garfield is not running and jumping with his toys, he is a complete cuddle bug who loves to snack on his treat of choice, Temptations! 🥰😻

Garfield currently lives in a foster home with a 2-year-old boy he calls his buddy. He does very well with family members of all ages and wouldn't mind a home with kiddos. He's come such a long way since recovering from his eyelid entropion (viewer discretion advised) and neuter surgery. 🐾 Update on Macy Gray 🐱💖

Our brave teenage kitten is making remarkable progress! After a challenging start with an anesthesia reaction during her spay, Macy Gray is defying the odds. 🌟 She's back to making adorable noises, exploring the house, and even navigating stairs!

Though her vision hasn't returned, Macy is adapting with resilience. She's upgraded her diet from mousse to pate and now enjoys some dry food. While she's not using a litter box yet, she's consistent in her chosen bathroom spots—thanks to washable puppy pads cleanup is a breeze!

Macy is a true sweetheart, relishing in love, brushes, and the joy of indulging in wet food. 🥰 Let's continue sending love and positive vibes her way! 🙏❤️
