It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of retired K-9 Officer Raewyn. In March 2013, Raewyn was sworn into the San Bernardino County Probation Department as a narcotics detection K-9 officer. During her six years of service, Raewyn worked and trained side by side with her partner, former Probation Officer Ebli. When not working, Raewyn loved playing fetch, getting treats, and going on walks with her family.

Thank you for your service, Raewyn. You will truly be missed by your family.

held two Probation Corrections Officer Applicant Workshops today. Attendees were able to speak to recruiters, learn about the CORE Academy and practice the physical agility requirements.

partnered with Upland Police Department and San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health to provide services to 24 unsheltered individuals in the City of Upland. In total, 13 were referred to outreach services, 2 individuals were housed, and 1 was arrested for having outstanding warrants.

Today, participated in the Public Safety Multi-Company Day at Victor Valley College Regional Public Safety Training Center. Nearly 500 high school students attended to learn more about public safety and the possibility of a career in law enforcement.

The DUI Unit was honored to be recognized with the “2023 MADD California Walking to Make a Difference Award” for their outstanding positive impacts to our community, at this year’s SoCal MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) Gala Awards.

Congratulations to eight staff who successfully graduated from the 2023 County’s Management and Leadership Academy (MLA) program. These leaders gained the theoretical and practical knowledge of public service management and leadership practices within the county.

Domestic Violence Unit participated in the Halloween Trunk or Treat hosted by Option House, Inc., in support of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

K9 Rio assisted the Bullhead City Police Department and Mohave County Probation Department after a suspect was arrested for discharging a weapon in Bullhead City, Arizona. A search warrant was issue for the subject’s residence, where K9 Rio located the suspected firearm, 3 magazines and ammunition.

Probation Corrections Officer Zepeda joined for a variety of different opportunities within the department. PCO Zepeda shared “I am very thankful to have been placed in various assignments, where I have been able to enhance my skill sets and offer a unique perspective to assist the youth under our care, over the last 6 years.”

Chief Probation Officer Reece, along with leaders from public safety presented at this year’s San Bernardino Countywide Gangs and Drugs Task Force Safety Summit. They discussed substance abuse, school safety and community resources that are available.

Today, participated in the Great Shake(Out) or Treat Earthquake and Emergency Preparedness Fair. Staff provided resources and safety tips to the community in order to prepare for a natural disaster.

K9 Rio assisted the SBCSD Colorado River Station/Needles with a search warrant in the City of Needles. During the search, an illegal assault weapon, ammunition, and evidence of drug sales were located inside the apartment. A warrant has been obtained for the subject’s arrest.
