UCSD students who care about the homeless and the medically undeserved. Est. 2017 💙💛
Dear Members,
We just wanted to say thank you for making the 2019-2020 school year a memorable one. Even though it did not end the way we had envisioned, we are so proud of what we were able to accomplish as an organization this year. We truly could not have done it with you!
Thank you to everyone who came out to our GBMs, supported our fundraisers, bonded with us at our socials, and most importantly, volunteered their time to serve our community. We enjoyed getting to know each of you and witnessing your passion to help those in need. You are an inspiration to us.
Although the future is uncertain, we hope that your dedication to serve the homeless and medically underserved remains constant whether you are continuing your college career or graduating. Our world needs this spirit of empathy and kindness more than ever.
Thank you again for this amazing school year, and we hope that you enjoy the summer break! Without further ado, we would like to introduce the Healing Hands board for the 2020-2021 school year! ❤️
With love,
Healing Hands Board of 2019-2020

To Our Healing Hands Family,
As you know, Healing Hands is an organization that is dedicated to serving the homeless and medically underserved. We must address the fact that homelessness and lack of healthcare access is largely contributed by the discrimination and systemic racism in our institutions. The same racism led to the unjust killings of Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and now George Floyd. Change is long overdue in our country, and the time to act is now.
We ask you to join us in showing our solidarity with the black community and movement. Do your part in educating yourself and others, signing petitions, protesting safely, and/or donating when you can. Feel free to use our growing list of resources linked below to support the movement nationwide and in our San Diego community! Ending systemic racism will inevitably lead to positive changes in all facets of our society, including ending homelessness and making healthcare accessible to all racial and ethnic groups.
With that said, we would also like to show our support for our fellow African American students and any students that have been affected by the recent events. We are aware of UCSD’s history of anti-blackness and are committed to fighting against the discriminatory practices on our campus and educating ourselves about how our university contributes to institutionalized racism.
Healing Hands is not only a student organization but a community that cares and is committed to supporting each other in difficult times. If you have any questions or need someone to talk to during this time, please feel free to message us! We are always here for you. Thank you for your support!
With love,
Healing Hands at UCSD 2019-2020 Board
