World Without Exploitation applauds the State of Maine for passing the first of its kind partial decriminalization legislation in the United States. LD1435, championed by Representative , ensures that s*x trade survivors are not criminalized for their own exploitation. The bill also makes sure exploiters, including s*x buyers, are still held accountable for the devastating harm they cause.
We thanks and Maine for leading the way and are confident that other states will soon follow.
Our deepest thanks and appreciation to the survivors of Maine who worked tirelessly to push this legislation over the finish line under the leadership of Tricia Grant. In addition we thank our partners at , and the Jensen Project for working hand in hand with WorldWE on behalf of survivors
One of the primary arguments made by those who advocate for legalized pimping, brothel owning and s*x buying is that a legal s*x trade is a regulated, and thus safer, s*x trade. Evidence does not support this. In a 2008 study by a multidisciplinary committee formed by the government of New Zealand – a country that legalized prostitution in 2003 – shows that rates of violence did not decrease when the s*x trade was legalized, nor did prostituted persons report feeling safer or being more likely to report to authorities violence they experienced in the s*x trade.
You can not regulate harms away in a system rooted in power and oppression.

an exploitation-free world.

Silence in the midst of injustice is a pervasive cancer that seeks to kill. God gave you eyes to see injustice, a heart for the hurting and a voice to speak in their defense. We may not speak with the eloquence of Ashley Cornelius or Dr. Martin Luther King, but our voices speak God's heart. Speak Up^
