Atty. Chel Diokno Talked About Importance of Martial Law Museum in San Diego Forum.
Chel was the guest speaker in a forum dubbed as “Remembrance, Resilience and Resistance in the Time of the Marcos Restoration” held at the UC San Diego Park and Market campus last Friday, November 3, 2023.
The event, sponsored and organized by the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance – San Diego (APALA San Diego) and by the UC San Diego Labor Center, is part of the North American tour of Chel Diokno to raise funds for the Bantayog ng mga Bayani (Monument of Heroes), a museum dedicated to the victims of Martial Law under the Marcos dictatorship. Bantayog is located at Quezon City, Philippines.
The central feature of the Bantayog museum and memorial is the granite “Wall of Remembrance” on which are inscribed the names of the martyrs and heroes who were victims of the abuses of the Marcos dictatorship.
Chel's speaking tour is organized by LELO (Legacy of Equality, Leadership, and Organizing), a non-profit based in Seattle, WA and Akbayan-USA. Other sponsors of the San Diego forum are the Filipino American Lawyers of San Diego (FALSD), Law Offices of Ian M Seruelo, Malaya Movement San Diego and Villa Manila Restaurant.
