S*x-trafficking victim Chrystul Kizer gets 11 years for killing her abuser

Claudine O’Leary, a human-trafficking survivor and founder of Rethink Resources, a Chicago-based consultancy group for victims of human trafficking, said Kizer’s sentence shows that courts still don’t fully embrace a trauma-informed approach to justice.

“Too often, these courts are looking for the perfect victim. And Chrystul did not fit the image of what they thought a perfect victim would look like,” O’Leary said. “They didn’t understand the kinds of experiences Chrystul had early on, and so the court system is simply not prepared to support her.”

O’Leary noted that Kizer was not treated like a victim early on and her experiences with s*xual abuse weren’t taken seriously.

There was an investigation by Kenosha Police Department they knew Volar was abusing underage girls.

The police raided Volar’s residence and found hundreds of videos of child s*xual abuse; among the stash were videos Volar had made of Kizer and girls who appeared to be as young as 12. But while the investigation continued, police and prosecutors allowed Volar to remain free.
Chrystul was arrested at 17 and will not be released until she's in her 30's

It's important for us to understand the trauma a victim has gone through.

What are your thoughts on this case?

😱There are 49.6 million people trapped in modern slavery worldwide.
People should NOT BE FOR SALE.
Why does this not bother us more?
It will never change unless we change it!💪

We are so thankful to for the beautiful couches and donations for our new drop in center for survivors.

Good info to keep in mind as we get ready for the new school year!
Keep your kids safe.🩵

With school starting back and everyone posting photos of your adorable children, please be mindful of revealing personal information about your child. Their full name, name of their school, grade, age and other identifying tidbits can be used by predators and scammers. The safest practice is to keep personal information to a minimum, no matter your privacy settings or friends. Have a great school year!

We are so proud of the work we have done. For over 24 years, Love Missions has dedicated itself to serving others and educating our youth.
Our journey has been one of growth and unwavering commitment. While we have expanded in many ways, our core mission remains the same: to lead groups in serving others and to teach youth and families how to stay safe from predators.

A very exciting moment for Love Missions is that we have discipled Agape Ministries F.G Church, empowering them to carry out missions in their own country. From Pastor Dev "we have modeled our mission after what we have seen you do when you come serve in our country"
That's true discipleship, and we could be more excited for them.
Please join us in keeping them in your prayers as they serve the Northwest region of Guyana.

14 s@x buyers arrested, 10 victims recovered in human tr@fficking sting at Comic-Con

Unfortunately, s@x tr@ffickers capitalize on large-scale events such as Comic-Con to exploit their victims for profit," Attorney General Bonta said in a statement. "These arrests send a clear message to potential offenders that their criminal behavior will not be tolerated."

Traffickers will use any event to take advantage and exploit others for their profit.

# # # World Day Against Trafficking in Persons: July 30 # # #

Today, July 30, marks the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about human trafficking, a grave violation of human rights that affects millions of people worldwide. Human trafficking involves the exploitation of individuals through coercion, fraud, or force for various purposes including forced labor, s*xual exploitation, and organ trafficking.

**Key Facts:**

1. **Global Impact**:
Every country in the world is affected by human trafficking, whether as a country of origin, transit, or destination.

2. **Victims**:
Trafficking affects people of all ages, genders, and nationalities. Vulnerable groups, such as women, children, and migrants, are particularly at risk.

3. **Forms of Trafficking**:

- **S*x Trafficking**: Exploitation for commercial s*x, often involving minors.

- **Labor Trafficking**:
Forced labor in various industries such as agriculture, construction, and domestic work.

- **Organ Trafficking**:
Illegal trade and transplantation of organs.

4. **Signs of Trafficking**: Some indicators include restricted freedom, lack of control over personal identification documents, signs of physical abuse, and unusual work or living conditions.

**What Can You Do?**

- **Educate Yourself and Others**:
Learn about human trafficking and share the information to raise awareness. Share our pages and tell others.

- **Support Victims**:
Donate Love Missions or other organizations that provide support and services to trafficking survivors.

- **Report Suspicious Activity**: If you suspect someone is a victim of trafficking, contact local authorities or helplines.
You can call 911 if its an emergency or if you suspect trafficking call 888-373-7888

It will take us all, to do our part, and make a difference. Join the fight against human trafficking, be a freedom fighter, and help create a world where everyone can live free from exploitation.

Being trained to recognize the signs of Hum@n Tr@fficking is so Important. Check Out How a pest control guy saved many lives.

One of the most critical messages we share during our training sessions is: "If you see something, say something." This simple action can save lives.

Why Training Matters: Besides families, Businesses need to be trained to recognize the signs of hum@n tr@fficking also. Awareness and prompt action are vital in combatting this heinous crime. Without proper training, employees might overlook crucial indicators of tr@fficking.

Case in Point: Ginsburg Lane Incident A pest control worker recently entered a home and became suspicious. He immediately called authorities. They were able to recover fifteen victims, all women aged 23 to 26, at the house on Ginsburg Lane in Texas. This operation had been ongoing for three to five years, and police estimate there could be up to 100 victims, including both men and women. Great job, pest control guy! He saw something and said something.

Living Conditions: The women were found living in deplorable conditions, often sleeping five to eight to a room on mats, blankets, or a single air mattress. This situation underscores the urgency of identifying and reporting suspicious activities.

Take Action: Ensure your business is equipped with the knowledge to identify potential tr@fficking scenarios. Training can make a significant difference and help prevent further victimization.

Remember, being vigilant and informed can lead to revovering those in horrible circumstances. If you see something suspicious, report it immediately just like the pest control worker did. You could save a life.

And last but certainly not least, thank you to everyone who came out to support us in the fight against human trafficking. Your support means the world to us, and we are forever grateful.

👰🏻‍♀️What if I told you that between 2000 and 2021, some 7,876 minors, as young as 12 years old, were married in the state of Virginia?

👰🏻‍♀️Thanks to VA HB994, child brides will no longer exist in the state of Virginia. This new law completely abolishes child marriage by setting the minimum marriageable age to 18, without exception. Parental consent will no longer be a tool predators can use to force children into legal se❌ual relationships.

👰🏻‍♀️Child marriage has been proven to lead to an increased risk of poverty, dropping out of high school, homelessness, mental illness, physical and se❌ual abuse, and hum@n tr@fficking. OUR CHILDREN DESERVE BETTER.

👰🏻‍♀️We need EVERY STATE to follow Virginia's example to protect our children. Do you know the child marriage laws in your state?

07/16/2024

Does this surprise you?

1 in 7 minors have reported sharing nudes!

That's right—1 in 7!

This alarming trend is becoming normalized among our youth.

Does that bother you?

IT SHOULD ALARM ALL OF US!

As this behavior becomes more common, predators are waiting to take advantage.

We need to come together to protect our kids.

We offer:

~Educational trainings

~Packing parties to support ~survivors

~Volunteer opportunities

Contact us to learn more and get involved. 🩵

When we work together to protect our children, we stop predators.💪

Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can protect our children.
Let's fight this battle together and show the world we care and we matter. 🌍❤️
