Teen Arts Mentorship Alumni Highlight: Nayari!
This Friday! 5-7pm at the Arts Fund Community Gallery, is the closing reception of our Teen Arts Mentorship Showcase, which featured works from the professional artists of tomorrow ✨
Tomorrow! The first Arts Fund Art Walk of 2024… 5-8 at La Cumbre Plaza ✨
Artist Highlight: Vania Vazquez 🎨“My time at the mentorship program was an amazing and unforgettable experience.
As a high school student, it can be difficult at times to not only find time to create art, but to also find the passion and motivation to do so in a space not meant for it. There is no time for art at school, work, the gym, etc. At home, there are chores to be done, homework to be completed, and other hobbies calling for my attention, to sit down and do anything other than art.
Artist Highlight: Ella Popovich ✨ “Throughout this mentorship I got to experiment so much with paint, materials, and my overall art style. Not only did I get the opportunity to make art pieces in so many new and fun ways, I also connected with my artist peers.
Join us for a combined program of audiovisual compositions by Constantin Basica and Andrew A. Watts. The works ponder on contemporary and futuristic issues related to global climate change, artificial intelligence, time travel and time loops, the multiverse, and the end of our known universe. Included in the concert is a new large-scale electronic composition involving video and 6-channel audio by Watts, as well as a selection of live performances with electronics and video by Basica.
Congratulations to the Regional Competition Title Winner: Anna Matthews!
Runner-Up: Michael Estrada
Honorable Mention: Chanel Corpuz
On Tuesday, November 14th, 2023, Allan Hancock College held the Poetry OutLoud Competition in which 12 Santa Barbara County Students from Ernest Righetti High School, Pioneer Valley High School, and the Arts Fund Teen Arts Mentorship Program, mentored by Cie, competed for the Regional Winning Title, resulting in moving onto the state competition in Sacramento in 2024.
Artist Highlight: Stella Zoltan
The Arts Fund provided an opportunity for me and other students to expand our creativity and artistic process. We spent two days a week focusing on our personal process and refining our personal style. I loved exploring and testing my limits in a space that was supportive and, most of all, inspiring.
Artist Highlight: Pilar Duran
During this mentorship my style was able to evolve. I loved having a space where I could just make art and not worry about anything else, while surrounded by other creative people. This environment was very inspiring and often I found myself drawing off of others' pieces as inspiration to make my own. I was able to branch out from the work I normally make and experiment with collage, which I utilized in most of my pieces. Overall this experience was very valuable to me and my work, and I feel that my expertise has grown as an artist.
The Arts Fund is honored to showcase a youth centered show from teens in Santa Barbara, Goleta, Santa Maria, and Lompoc. This Friday, join us in celebrating the completion of Mentorship for 12 local student artists. Thank you & for your intentional and inspirational mentorship to these emerging artists.

Our Story
For 35 years The Arts Fund has fostered the creative arts in Santa Barbara County. We are committed to enhancing the education of a new generation of artistic talent through our Teen Arts Mentorship program. Since 2001, The Arts Fund has maintained a Community Gallery to highlight work created through these programs, to promote audience awareness of local artists, serve as an educational venue for workshops and artist talks, and to support other area organizations and artists that lack exhibition space of their own.
Originally incorporated as the County of Santa Barbara Art Associates, The Arts Fund was created in 1983 as a private, nonprofit corporation to promote, foster, and support art activities in Santa Barbara County and to facilitate the works of the Santa Barbara County Arts Commission. In the late 1980s, The Arts Fund evolved into an independent organization with its current mission of fostering opportunities in the arts for Santa Barbara County residents.
