Dr Eric Small

Our Story

Dr. Eric Small is nationally recognized for his expertise in Sports Medicine. He serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedics, and Pediatric Medicine at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. Dr. Small has been listed as a “Best Sports Medicine Doctor” annually in Westchester Magazine, New York Magazine, and New York Metro since 2007.

Dr. Small treats and manages all musculoskeletal and sports-related conditions: soft tissue injury, sprains, strains, dislocations, ligament injuries, fractures, tendonitis, overuse injuries, sports concussions, stress fractures, dance injuries, exercise induced asthma, and complex regional pain syndrome.

Dr. Small specializes in primary care Sports Medicine and has successfully treated professional, college, and high school athletes in every major sport. Dr. Small is school physician for many local schools and colleges. He has appeared many times on television and is frequently quoted by national publications. Dr. Small is the author of "Kids & Sports".

Dr. Small is former chairman of the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Sports Medicine and Fitness.

Dr. Small received his BS in biology from Haverford College where he played varsity tennis. He completed two sports medicine fellowships:
- McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada: Fellowship in exercise medicine, where Dr. Small worked with exercise testing for elite athletes, and also chronic medical conditions in athletes.
-Harvard Medical School/Boston Children’s Hospital: Fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine and Dance Medicine fellowship.

Dr. Small currently plays competitive tennis player and is a workout enthusiast. He has four sons. His two oldest sons played varsity college tennis. One son currently plays varsity college tennis. Dr. Small’s two youngest sons currently play college baseball. They all remain uninjured.
