Calling dancers in red regalia to join us for our Red Dress special! We felt called to host this special so we can create a space for healing in our community and share medicine with our relatives. We especially feel that we should uplift our relatives, as that’s in alignment with our values this year for powwow.
We are honored to have speakers from Mother Nation joining us and sharing some words about why events like these are so important for us as Indigenous people, so make sure you don’t miss it!

Sunday 1:45pm, we’ll call you down to the Arena Floor where you will introduce your name, tribe(s) and degrees. Please bring your families or support systems if you want, we look forward to honoring you!

This dynamic duo is elevated by Grants' commitment to community, culture, and skills as an MC. We look forward to seeing him in action April 13th and 14th for our 53 Annual Spring Powwow!

First Nations will familiarize our volunteers with the facility, volunteer positions, and responsibilities.

First Nations is seeking volunteers! We are honored to invite you to volunteer and be a part of our 2024 Annual Spring Powwow this April 13th and 14th at the Hec Edmundson Pavilion in Seattle, Washington.
The First Nations students of UW organize the annual Powwow that draws an impressive 5,000-8,000 throughout the weekend. Volunteers have continuously lent a helping hand in this event to make it possible for us to share a part of our heritage and culture. We are asking you to be part of this continued partnership that makes our powwow successful and uplifts our communities.
To sign up to be a volunteer use the QR code or the link in our bio. Select any shifts and positions you are interested in, and our volunteer committee will be following up with schedules. You will also receive an invitation to the Volunteer Orientation at wǝɫǝbʔaltxʷ served with light refreshments, happening Wednesday April 10th 6pm-7:30.

Our powwow strives to create a healing space to be in community together. As such, this is a zero tolerance event- NO drugs, NO alcohol, NO violence and NO abusers. Together, we keep our communities safe and look out for the spiritual, mental, physical and emotional well being of our relatives.
Spring powwow is student organized and ran, but a vital part is the guidance and support of community members, UW staff and alumni and our generous donors and contributors.

First Nations at the University of Washington invites you to the 53rd annual Spring Powwow! Hosted April 13th and 14th at the Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion in Seattle, Washington. Free admission and free University parking on weekends after 12pm.
Saturday Grand Entry at 12pm, Elders Dinner at 5:30 pm and Coastal Jam at 6pm.
Sunday Grand entry 12 pm.
Specials include Tiny Tots, Warcry Vs. Lele by Julian Brave NoiseCat, Jr. Boys Fancy Dance 12-17 by Paula Shebala, Two Spirit by Theo Wright and First Nations, Jingle Vs. Grass Dance by Seattle Indian Health Board and more to come!

Reminder for those who are interested in creating your own Fancy Shawl, the workshops are this week!
Tuesday February 27th from 3-7pm and Wednesday 28th from 12-3pm.
Learn from Clarissa Otterwoman Morninggun about the history behind fancy shawl and how to make your own. Supplies and Food provided. Thank you to CAIIS for providing the funding for this event through the Native Knowledge Award and to the Intellectual House for providing the space and sewing machines.

Join us for our second fundraiser workshop! This Monday from 4-7 come to welebalt to design your very own glass cups. All UW Native graduate and undergraduate students are encouraged to attend and food will be provided! If you missed the first one, you're still welcomed to join! We will have video tutorials from Tulalip artist Marysa Jo Sylvester, in person guidance from Tulalip artist Ty Juvinel and SAO advisor Rick Young. All professional art supplies will be provided. We will be selling these cups at the Alumni Dinner on the 23rd and at Spring powwow. Thank you to CAIIS and The Intellectual House for funding this endeavor!

We are announcing Day Pay for the first 50 dancers for Session 1 and an Age Group Special during Session 2. Information on the Age Group Special prizes are listed on the First Nations @ UW website, linked in our bio.
As we are 5 days away from powwow, here is a little check list for anyone who has not been to a powwow before or just needs a little reminder on what to bring to powwow THIS SATURDAY (4/8)
Good morning, we are less than two weeks away to the 52nd Spring Powwow, hosted by First Nations @ UW, on Saturday April 8, 2023 at the Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion.
Doors open at 11 AM, with the Coastal Grand Entry beginning at 11:30 AM before Grand Entry at 1 PM, with more details on the schedule to come!
All are welcome and invited. Admission is free, but be sure to check out the array of items for sale from our vendors (cash preferred) as well as concessions with hopefully positive changes based on feedback from last year.
