We are hiring! We are seeking an hourly undergraduate student (freshman or sophomore standing) outreach intern to assist in promoting awareness and usage of SLS resources to UW Seattle and Bothell Students.
The Intern will be responsible for day to day operations of the SLS office. This includes but is not limited to: answering general questions, explaining processes, tabling, designing posters/fliers, distributing advertising materials, and giving presentations. SLS is seeking candidates that are resourceful, reliable, engaged, and professional.

Emily Siangkam has played a significant role for UW SLS since her start as an Outreach Intern in 2018. As a legal assistant, she helped innovate SLS by helping change the software system. The new system has helped SLS staff speed up the process to allow more intakes from UW-Seattle and Bothell students. We are beyond grateful for your time with us and cannot wait to see the incredible things you will accomplish through your work with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Tanya Fekri (she/her) is the glue to our incredible team at UW SLS! Her devotion to assisting students in various legal issues has led our on-campus office to continually provide a safe and confidential space to UW-Seattle and Bothell students who have legal questions or concerns. Fekri has two BA degrees in Political Science and Law, Societies, and Justice from the University of Washington. She also attended the Seattle University School of Law, where she received her JD. Fekri organized the first youth-led interfaith group in Washington, where she met Archbishop Desmond Tutu and his Holiness the Dalai Lama. As an Immigration Attorney at Catholic Immigration Legal Services and an ESL Teacher, her background has fulfilled her passion for immigration law. Thank you for showing us how a great leader leads!
Amanda Reynoso-Palley (she/her) is our outstanding staff attorney who also happens to love water coloring, Catan, and her dog Pinto! Reynoso-Palley graduated from UC Berkely in 2010 and worked for three years before law school. Later, she graduated from Cornell Law School in 2016 with a fellowship in NYC for an organization dedicated to preventing teen dating violence. While at UW SLS, Reynoso-Palley has continued to dedicate her legal career to serving young people. Since day one, she has represented survivors of dating violence. She has worked at Bay Area Legal Aid's Youth Justice, where she served youth on a broad spectrum of legal issues, including consumer, housing, immigration, public benefits, and family law. She loves working for UW SLS because it is a fast-paced environment, collaborating with students and on-campus allies to solve novel legal issues. Thank you for inspiring us all to pursue careers as lawyers!
Emily Siangkam (she/her) loves music and has traveled the US to view shows. Siangkam is one of our outstanding legal assistants who has a passion for criminal and environmental law. She has a BA in Environmental Studies and Geography and Data Science. Previously, she has worked as the Public Affairs intern for the Port of Seattle. Also, she has volunteered for Mary's Place and Marra Farm. She is currently an intern for the EPA! Siangkam has enjoyed working for UW SLS because she learns about every area of the law and allows her to think critically about each case she receives. She thoroughly enjoys assisting underserved populations at the UW. We are grateful for the innovations and positive changes you contributed to UW SLS! Thank you for inspiring us to reach new heights. You are indeed an inspiration and play an essential role at UW SLS.
Citlalli Guzman (she/her) is one of our legal assistants who also happens to be a Leo. She's currently pursuing a BA in Political Science and American Ethnic Studies. Previously, she has worked at a small firm in Ephrata and with AWSL high school leadership camps. Citlalli enjoys working for UW SLS because it is a safe space for students to come to when they have legal issues. She finds it exciting to see the work that Rule 9 Interns do during their time at UW SLS. Citlalli hopes to one-day practice immigration and family practice law. Maricruz Maldonado (she/her) enjoys collecting crystals to bring good energy into her life. Maldonado is one of UW SLS's extraordinary legal assistants. She is currently pursuing a BA degree in Law, Societies, and Justice and a minor in Diversity. She has worked with the Church Council of Greater Seattle to support refugees and undocumented people feel safe during court and ICE appointments. Maldonado enjoys creating change and helping her community, and UW SLS does that in every aspect by assisting underrepresented students and providing them with services. She hopes to practice immigration law and continue to impact communities in the future. Thank you for your continued dedication!
Lizbeth Flores (she/her) is UW SLS's Outreach Intern. She is a proud owner of Martha, her white Jeep renegade. Flores is currently pursuing a BA degree in Law, Societies, and Justice. She hopes to use her experience as the 2020-2021 Washington DECA State President to innovate UW SLS's social media platforms and connections. Flores enjoys working for UW SLS because it allows her to be creative and engage with the UW community. Through her time with UW SLS, she hopes to learn about immigration and criminal law. Flores is happy to be a part of such an impactful community.
Christian Santana (he/him) is a person of many talents as he is a Rule 9 Licenced Legal Intern and a licensed bartender. Christian graduated from the University of Southern California with a BA in Psychology. He has worked for Esperanza Immigrant Rights Project by managing the community education program for unaccompanied minors and their sponsors. Santana has also worked for the QLaw Foundation of Washington, where he provided civil legal aid assistance and support to over 100 LGBTQ+ Washingtonians. He also served as a student volunteer for UW Law's Race and Justice Clinic to provide legal aid for clients of color convicted as children. Christian enjoys working for UW SLS because it allows him to work directly with students and their legal issues, which he hopes to do for his clients once he is barred as an attorney! Thank you for your continuous dedication and commitment! We appreciate you.
Paula Bisiar (she/her) enjoys spending her summers volunteering as a summer camp counselor. Bisiar is one of UW SLS's Rule 9 Licensed Legal Interns. She has a BA degree from UW-Seattle, where she majored in Law, Societies, and Justice and minored in Disability Studies. Before working at UW SLS, she served as a legal advocate for a Social Security Disability Law Office. Bisiar enjoys working at UW SLS because she can learn about different areas of law while providing students free to low-cost legal services. She is highly interested in pursuing Civil Legal Aid and Immigration after law school. Thank you for being so dedicated and hard-working!
Maya Itah (she/her) is not a dog owner, but she does own four guinea pigs named Princess, Luci, Ruby, and Meeko. Itah majored in Communications and minored in International Relations at the University of Southern California. She was a member of the AmeriCorps and served as a social service provider. These experiences taught her to connect with people. She's highly interested in criminal defense and immigration law. Irah loved using her knowledge in the classroom to help students succeed. Thank you for consistently pushing the bar and doing outstanding work!
Allison Bolgiano (she/her) is another one of our dog-loving Rule 9 Licensed Legal Interns. She has raised eight puppies to guide the blind from elementary through high school. Bolgiano has a BA in Politics from Whitman College and is in 3L in the JD program at the University of Washington School of Law. Her favorite area of law is environmental law. Bolgiano's background focuses on providing affordable housing through non-profit organizations, supported advocacy campaigns for affordable housing and public transportation, volunteered as a clinical assistant in King Court Bar Association free neighborhood legal clinics before law school. Her expertise has led her to work for UW SLS, where she loves helping students understand their legal rights and helps advocate for them. We value your knowledge and dedication to assisting students; thank you!
Laura Kirk (she/her) loves spending time outdoors, especially rock-climbing and mountaineering! Kirk is another one of our incredible UW SLS's Rule 9 Licensed Legal Interns. She loves the exposure to different areas of law and meeting students across the entire student body. She has previously served as the Northwest Immigration Rights Project and Housing Justice Project Intern. Kirk has a BA degree in Spanish and is close to completing her JD from the University of Washington. She hopes to one-day practice immigration and human rights law. Alec Dugan (he/him) is your regular dog lover as he owns a 13-year-old chihuahua named Missy. Dugan has two BA degrees in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Washington. He's used his previous work experience as the Northwest Justice Project Intern into working as one of UW SLS's Rule 9 Licensed Legal Interns. Dugan is highly interested in the intellectual property area of law. While at UW SLS, he has enjoyed helping UW students pursue their ambitions by providing them with free and low-cost legal services to help them prioritize their education. Austin Field (he/him) is one of UW SLS's Rule 9 Licensed Legal Interns, who also happens to love adrenaline as he has skydived SIX times. Field has a BA degree in International Relations from Tufts University. He has used his past experiences, such as working with the Unemployment Law Project, the Seattle Clemency Project, the Public Defender Association, the Community Police Commission, and the King County Department of Public Defense. He values his time with UW SLS because he can practice criminal, immigration, housing, employment, contract, and tort law all the same time. His favorite area of law is Criminal Defense. We are thankful for you and your contributions!
