Congratulations to Magnet junior Divanny Arvizu, who was selected as one of only 15 students in the US to participate in the Caminos al Futuro program this summer!

Caminos al Futuro is a fully funded pre-college and residential summer program led by George Washington University’s Cisneros Hispanic Leadership Institute. Lodging, transportation, meals, and tuition are all covered.

Eligible students must be rising seniors at a US high school and demonstrate a high level of academic achievement as well as a commitment to leadership in the service of the Latino/Hispanic community.

Divanny and the other Caminos scholars will live on the George Washington University campus during a three-week intensive program as they examine the social, economic, and political transformations affecting the Hispanic/Latino community. Scholars will visit Congress, government agencies, and non-profit organizations while participating in university-style lectures, writing labs, and workshops to prepare them for the college application process.

Congratulations, Divanny!

Testers, please get a good night of sleep before your test and make sure to eat something for breakfast. Leave your belongings and electronics with your AP teacher or in your car—don’t bring them to test site!

Bring a snack and a drink to have during the test.

You should also bring 2 number 2 pencils (not mechanical!) and 2 blue or black pens for most tests. You cannot have pencil pouches, books, extra pens/pencils, erasers, sharpeners, good-luck charms, or anything else on your desk during the tests.

Please show up on time ready to do your best! Your AP teachers have your room assignments.

If you haven’t streamed Marcus’s film yet, you can do so at filmprizejr.com! You can also watch the other films submitted by Caddo Magnet students, “Portrait”, “Pursuit”, and “Brothers”.

Our on-campus sponsor for Film Prize Jr is Mr John Allen, who teaches film production and videojournalism.
