YDR Rating Criteria:
"We attempted to make the qualifying criteria as fair as possible: 1. Only high school athletic accomplishments were considered, which includes earning a college scholarship. 2. Female athletes were rated by how they dominated their own sports β not how they would fare going head-to-head against male athletes."

ππ Congratulations to Spring Grove's very own Track and Field coach, Brian Campbell, who was recently named Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA)! ππ
USTFCCCA recently announced the state-by-state winners of the High School Track & Field Coaches of the Year, and honored one boys coach and one girls coach from each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia for their successes during the spring 2024 season. Winners were selected based on team scores, state championship placements, margin of victory, rankings, individual championships, and historical achievements.
Coach Campbellβs outstanding leadership and dedication have earned him this prestigious recognition, and he is in the running for the National High School Track & Field Coach of the Year award which will be announced next month.

π It's become a tradition for the outgoing and incoming superintendents to ring the school bell at the Educational Service Center to symbolize the "changing of the guard." Last Friday, Dr. Ioannidis rang the school bell to mark his retirement, marking the end of an era of dedication and leadership. Yesterday, Dr. Bradley rang the bell on his first day as superintendent, bringing fresh enthusiasm for our district's future. ππ

π On Monday evening, we gathered to honor Dr. George Ioannidis, Superintendent of the Spring Grove Area School District, as he prepares to retire on June 30th. With an incredible 31 years dedicated to public education, including 15 years with SGASD, Dr. Ioannidis has profoundly impacted our community.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Ioannidis for his unwavering commitment, leadership, and passion for education. Your legacy will continue to inspire us.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Retirement Reception, making it a memorable evening. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Cindy Huber, former Board President; Tammy Miller, Development Director at Windy Hill on the Campus; John Popovich, from the Office of PA State Rep Seth Grove; and Senator Kristin Phillips-Hill for their touching and heartfelt words.
We are proud to share that Dr. Ioannidis received honorary citations from the PA House of Representatives and the State Senate, recognizing his outstanding service and contributions.

π€Έ π The Spring Grove students of the Hanover Gymnastics teams had an outstanding season, with numerous gymnasts earning medals and achieving personal bests. Congratulations to all the Hanover gymnasts for their hard work, dedication, and remarkable achievements this season!

Highlights of the season include:π
π Kaelyn Klunk (PES) qualified for the Level 3 State Championships.
π Leeah King (SGFlex), Gemma Gantz (NSE), Quinn Yohe (SGE), Aubrey Hartman (SGE), and Maylee Campbell (SGE) qualified for Level 4 State Championships, with Maylee securing 3rd place on bars.
π Aubree and Rachel King (SGFlex) qualified for the Level 6 State Championships, with Rachel finishing third on the floor.
π Anna Kaminkow (SGFlex) qualified for the Level 7 State Championships.
π Joslynn Klunk (SGAMS), Hadley Ziegler (SGI), and Vienna DeRienzo (SGI) qualified for the Level 8 State Championships, with Vienna finishing 2nd on the beam. Hadley and Vienna both qualified for Level 8 Regionals.
π Ruby Trimmer (SGI) started her season on the Level 7 team, advanced to Level 8 mid-season, and qualified for the Level 8 State Championships.
π Ashlyn Herrington (SGAMS) and Didi Kalathas (SGAMS) qualified for the XCEL Gold State Championships and XCEL Regionals, with Didi finishing 2nd in the all-around at Regionals.
π Temperance Lawyer (SGE) and Emma Brooks (SGI) qualified for the XCEL Silver State Championships. Emma finished 2nd on vault and became the PA State Champion on beam and in the all-around.
π Brianna Arnold (SGAHS) qualified for the XCEL Platinum State Championships and XCEL Regionals as an event specialist in beam.
π Mario Derienzo (SGI) qualified for Level 6 D1 State Championships, finishing 2nd on the parallel bars, and for Level 6 D1 Regionals, finishing 3rd on the parallel bars.

"This free camp, which lasted two days, gave the middle schoolers a chance to get hands-on experience in technical programs such as construction, commercial arts, cosmetology and automotive. The high school students taught the younger students while a teacher supervised the classes."

ππ Congratulations to Mrs. Kristen King, learning support teacher at Spring Grove Area Middle School, on graduating from Leadership York's Leadership For Diverse Schools Program!
The program equips educators to better connect with diverse populations. Spanning from September to May, it includes a two-day opening retreat and nine evening sessions, providing a thorough and engaging learning experience culminating with a final project. Way to go, Kristen! We're so proud of your dedication!
