DINO DIG IN PROGRESS! AREA CLOSED FOR SCIENCE! 🦖🦕
In Science classes with Mrs. Christine Torlina, students in Eyas through Grade 1 are learning about dinosaurs and paleontology through a full-on, hands-on "dino dig" in the Fillmore Playground sandbox.
In their first Art classes of the year with Mrs. Saaba Lutzeler, students in Grades 1-4 created oil pastel tie-dyes, employing the concepts of radial symmetry, concentric shapes, and color choice as they reviewed and practiced Art Room procedures.
The artworks are on display (and being added to every day!) on the bulletin board outside the Main Office in Dunbar House!
At last Friday's Opening Assembly, our Grade 6 students and members of the Class of 2025 took their place as the new leaders of our student body. Per tradition, each student stepped up to the mic to introduce themselves to the entire school community before signing their name to the Class of 2025 banner, which will hang in Gerdine House during the 2024/25 school year.

During the course of the 2023/24 school year, faculty and staff participated in a professional development workshop series conducted by the Missouri Botanical Garden's EarthWays Center. Our immediate objectives were to create a working definition of sustainability for the school community and draft principles of education for sustainability (EFS) to incorporate into Forsyth's campus, curriculum, and culture. And together, we did just that!
At Forsyth, we believe sustainability is building a knowledgeable, caring, and environmentally responsible campus community. Education for sustainability is at the core of our learning environment, fostering leadership and action as we work toward a healthier, more sustainable future for all.
We accomplish this by embedding sustainability principles within our curriculum; cultivating a culture of hope through mindfulness, reciprocity, and reflection; and promoting positive changes across our campus while reducing Forsyth's impact on the environment through sustainability initiatives, programs, and practices.
Visit the Sustainability webpage on our website to learn more about Forsyth's principles of education for sustainability.
Special thanks to The Earthways Center team and Forsyth's Green Team Co-Chairs, Mrs. Christine Torlina and Mrs. Susan Zareh!
