Saw our friends at the Fulton County Farm Bureau post about this so we thought we’d share this too. Right now, we have farmers out, well feeding the world. They are harvesting crops and moving around farm equipment and couple that with parades over the next few weeks there’s likely to be some traffic impacts.
There are two Homecoming Parades that we are aware of THIS week (both on Friday Sept 30th) that will impact travel on state highways. Additionally, Farmington has a parade next week on Thursday October 6th at 5:00 PM and it will impact IL 116/78. There are likely other parades as well so please be aware of travel impacts.
• Cuba High School Homecoming parade is Friday, Sept 30th beginning at 1pm. It starts at the Grade School (State RT 97/Main Street) and goes West down Rt 97, around the square, past Potties one block, then back to elementary school. Plan on it taking about an hour.
• Lewistown High School Homecoming Parade starts at 2:30pm at the Fairgrounds on Friday Sept 30th. The parade travels North down Main Street/State Rt 97, 24, & 100 to the Post office. It will end at approximately 3:30pm. Lewistown wanted to make sure they hit allllllll the state routes.
• Farmington Central School District Parade will start at 5:00 PM on Thursday October 6th at 5:00 PM. The parade will enter 116/78 off Gold Street and then travel west on IL 116/78 Gold Street till the 4 way stop. The parade will continue north bound on main for a block or two and then turn east. It will end at approximately 6:00 PM.
There's bound to be farm equipment, grain and soybeans moving thru Fulton County over the next few weeks and the highways will be busy. **𝙋𝙇𝙀𝘼𝙎𝙀 𝙐𝙎𝙀 𝘾𝘼𝙐𝙏𝙄𝙊𝙉**. If you encounter a farmer, making a living, feeding his family and yours – give thanks- and patience. Allow plenty of space and distance to get around said equipment. If you encounter a parade cheer on the kids and floats and enjoy life a bit.
Thanks to the Fulton County Farm Bureau for pushing this out!

🚰𝗕𝗢𝗜𝗟 𝗢𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗥 - 𝗩𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗢𝗙 𝗦𝗠𝗜𝗧𝗛𝗙𝗜𝗘𝗟𝗗 & 𝗕𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗔𝗗𝗢𝗧𝗧𝗘
The Village of Smithfield will be issuing a boil order - starting on *𝙏𝙐𝙀𝙎𝘿𝘼𝙔* 9/20/2022 for water customers in Smithfield and Bernadotte. The Village is replacing some water filters and due to this it will require a boil order. The boil order will be lifted once water tests are fully completed and exact timing is NOT known. Once known we will post an update. Like to say thanks to the Village Mayor for the heads up on this issue.
There is not anticipated to be any water loss during this normal maintenance period, just the boil order.
Join us from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, for National Night Out at Countryside Mall. It's a great chance to meet police officers and see some of the tools of our trade. Clearwater Fire & Rescue crew members and apparatus will also be on hand. We hope to see you there!
Update: All lanes have reopened.
Clearwater traffic news: Eastbound lanes of the Courtney Campbell Causeway are shut down because of a wreck on the Tampa side. Westbound lanes are not affected.
You never know who you might run into after a hurricane — none other than Hulk Hogan on Clearwater Beach. Officer Bingham’s arms might give the Hulkster a run for his money.
