The 2024 Payne County Free Fair kicks off tomorrow! Be sure to drop off your indoor entries between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.! We can’t wait to see you all at the fair!🍀🎨

The countdown to the Fair is on and that means Payne County OHCE members are busy making the delicious pies they are famous for!

The fruit pie makers have been busy making apple, cherry, apricot, peach and mixed berry fruit pies. The cream pie makers have also been busy preparing their ingredients for coconut cream, chocolate cream and lemon cream pies, too! Enjoy your piece of pie at the fair or take a whole pie home to enjoy for $20!

Many, many thanks to the Payne County OHCE members and additional volunteers for all of their hard work. We will see you next week at the Fair!

The Pet Show and Parade at the Payne County Free Fair is just one week away! All children having pets may enter! A grand and reserve champion group winner will be announced!

All entries have been turned in and we are excited to say we have a total of 2,293 indoor exhibits entered in the 2024 Payne County Free Fair!! We are so excited to see everyone’s projects next week at the fair!! 🍀🎨🌿

Are you between 7th - 12th grade? Do you want to sharpen your leadership skills, make new friends and have fun? Well, get ready for an awesome adventure at the 2024 youth-in-Action (YIA) conference, happening October 16 - 18 during Fall Break at the Fin and Feather Resort!

YIA is a fantastic leadership conference where you’ll attend fun and educational workshops, participate in community service, make new friends, and so much more.
Here's what you need to know:
Who can join? You must be in the 7th grade and not yet graduated from high school.
Cost: $95 per delegate.
Deadline: Tuesday, September 3rd by 4:00 p.m. Make sure to turn in your registration form and payment to secure your spot.

🌟Meet Jennifer Patterson! Our Payne County Agriculture Educator!🌟

A dedicated 4-H alumna, Jennifer's journey began with her passion for her horse project. Her experiences led her to Oklahoma in 1999, where she earned an associate's in environmental science from Eastern OK State College and a bachelor's in animal science from Oklahoma State University. While at OSU, she was a proud member of the varsity women’s Equestrian Team. It was also where she met her husband and together, they raised three boys on their farm in Stilwell, OK, focusing on commercial cattle and dairy goats. In 2011, Jennifer expanded her expertise by obtaining an associate's in veterinary technology and becoming a licensed Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT). She spent over a decade working as an RVT at Patterson Animal Hospital and served as an adjunct RVT at Tulsa Community College. In 2018, Jennifer transitioned to her Extension career in Adair County, managing the county 4-H program, engaging in research and educational initiatives, and implementing practical trials with local producers. She also provided valuable public and community education for both youth and adults.

Jennifer is thrilled to embark on her new role in Payne County and can't wait to connect with everyone involved!

The Payne County Free Fair is fast approaching which means so is the Skill-a-thon contest! We will have a skill-a-thon for each of these topic areas. The quizzes will be open from August 26 - September 3. Winners will be announced later that week! Please contact the office with any questions!
