𝐄𝐕𝐕 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐲! As many of you know, we are in the process of completely transitioning from paper time sheets to the Electronic Verification System (EVV).

"One particular Consumer/Surrogate who was selected to participate in the pilot program initially had reservations about using EVV, citing a lack of computer skills. We assured them that the process would be simple once they began. Initially, both the Surrogate and the PCA's experienced challenges with the new system, but now they are pleased with using EVV. Noah is an aspiring musician with a particular talent for Lo-fi beats. Think Nujabes, Tomppabeats, and Killer Bee.

Our Employment Services Program team were able to get him an informational interview with Boston's very own Dj Pup Dawg from Jam’n 94.5. You know him from popular sessions like the “Back In The Day Buffet," "5 o'clock Traffic Jam," and “The Mix at 6.”

DJ PupDawg conversed with Noah about his passion for music, valuable insights, experiences, and how to overcome hardships while making it big in the music business.

“There is no one way to be Deaf, just as there is no one way to be hearing,” Jonathan O'Dell, Assistive Tech. and Training Specialist for the MA Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. “We are all different and should all be accepted on our own merits.”

O’Dell spoke to Tempus on what it means to be culturally deaf, provisions that must be common place, and the dangers of audism.

People who identify as culturally deaf come from a community where American Sign Language (ASL) is the primary form of communication. It should be treated the same as any other language and culture. While Audism is the inherent prejudice the deaf community face.

He emphasized the importance of ASL interpreters and using a Certified Deaf Interpreter as a primary method of communication.

Last week our team attended the BIA-MA's 42nd Annual Brain Injury Conference where we had the opportunity to show conference attendees a wide range of programs Tempus Unlimited has to offer. Like our Adult Foster Care program which assists individuals with their physical activities, behavioral management, and support.

Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts

The consumers bundled up and beat those winter blues with a trip to see Rene Vaca’s comedy show at Laugh Boston on Friday evening. And even got a photo with him! What a great night!

A BIG shot-out and thanks to our devoted Tempus staff for planning these fun trips out in the community to enrich the lives our of consumers and their peers!

Our Supported Living Program consumers and staff participated in a fantastic outing into Boston to see the Bruins play the New Jersey Devils on January 15th.

A message from one of the participants: "Been ready for a hour! Super stoked and can't wait to go ! Was always known to going to a bunch of sports games and concerts. So this will be the first time in over five years that I'll be going to something like that! So happy and appreciative of it all ! And I truly thank you guys from the bottom of my heart. Stuff like this gives folks something to look forward to and does wonders for the morale. Means a lot just speaking for myself. Nevermind as a crew I'm sure everyone is excited and appreciative! Go Bruins!!!"

Tempus Unlimited Consumer Spotlight

Craig has participated in our Wellness Center program since January of 2020. “What I enjoy most about personal training is making my body better” he says. Craig participates in 2 sessions per week in our fitness center to work with the personal trainer and enjoys every minute of it! “My goals include improving my diet and increasing my strength” he also shares. Craig is often one of the first to participate in community social outings and really enjoys socializing with other Tempus program individuals.

Tempus Unlimited is thrilled to be able to offer these services to individuals to help better their lives through exercise, fitness and socialization with peers!

Consumers from the Supported Living Program kicked off the holiday season with a fun visit to the Enchanted Village. What a great time!

With the Thanksgiving Holiday upon us this week, all of us at Tempus Unlimited wish you all a wonderful holiday.

Tempus Unlimited Consumer Spotlight Story

Steven has participated in our Wellness Center program since 2021 and Lat pull-downs is his favorite type of exercise in the fitness center. “My goal is to be stronger and healthier” he says as he returns weekly to our fitness center to work out with the personal trainer. “He is funny and he kicks my butt in hard workouts, exercise helps relieve my anxiety”. Steven looks forward to his weekly sessions at Tempus to stay healthy and fit.

Tempus Celebrated 70 years of services to our community on August 9th at the Irish Cultural Center in Canton MA. The Employment Services, Supported Living, Adult Foster Care and Recreation program participants enjoyed a fun-filled day of music, games, food, fun and laughs to celebrate this amazing milestone for Tempus.

Job fairs are starting up again beginning the 2nd Wednesday of the month starting September in our Stoughton office (600 Technology Center Drive) from 2-5pm.

Employment Services Program:

“My name is Kaitlin and I’ve been working at Tempus in the Document Imaging department for 2 years doing data entry. I was a client of Employment Services from 2019 to 2022 and Belinda was my job coach.
I’ve had a very positive experience at Tempus with being both a consumer and an employee. I learned many valuable work-related skills through job coaching. I appreciated Belinda’s dedication to both helping me find a job and supporting me emotionally along the way. When the Summer 2021 Project opened Belinda was able to get me a job in this position. I am grateful to Belinda and Employment Services for helping me get this job. It is most suited to me out of all the work I’ve had! The hours, environment, and the work itself are very suited to me. I have a predictable schedule, it is a quiet office, and I enjoy the detail-oriented nature of data entry. I hope to work here for many years to come!”

Scholarship Program:

Beatriz | Therapeutic Recreation Program Participant

Beatriz: Horse therapy is like the best part of my week. I come here, I leave here and then I wait the whole week until I can come here again. It’s good for both my emotional and physical health, i’ve been learning about that. I like grooming the horses and my favorite part is trotting! I always set 5 minutes or more at the end of my session because I love visiting the goats and chickens!

Beatriz mom: This is amazing for her. She loves the place, she loves the animals and she loves the cats. But emotionally, this is amazing because she comes back very, very happy. We really, really appreciate Tempus support and this means a lot. Thank you, It’s a blessing for Bia and for us.

Augmentative Communication Program

“I have a beautiful little girl with autism who has a deficit in expressive and receptive language. When I found out Tempus offered iPad devices with a pre-installed communication app for children who have a diagnoses in which a communication device would be beneficial to the child, I contacted them right away.
I couldn’t be more grateful for the excellent communication and service Tempus provided, and for making what I thought would be a very difficult process, stress free and easy. My daughter has already mastered some of the skills on the communication app and I am watching her start bridging the gap in her ability to successfully communication. We are so very grateful!”

Important information about the MA FI/PCA Program. Tempus just completed the first week of processing timesheets as the sole FI in Massachusetts. Please note that vast majority of the submitted timesheets were paid on Wednesday or Friday this past week. Many more have been set up to be paid on Monday, January 10, 2022. Many timesheets that were rejected because they were submitted before the hours were worked are being processed and will be paid on Monday, January 10th. If you submitted a timesheet prior to the hours being worked for the periods ending 1/1/2022 or 1/8/2022, Tempus will process it for payment but we ask that, in the future, you don't submit those timesheets until after all hours have been worked. We apologize that there are extended hold times on our phone lines. The call volume has been incredibly high. We received over 32,000 phone calls last week and are doing our best to answer as many as we possibly can. We request your patience and understanding. Also please note, Tempus is not rejecting timesheets because a consumer or PCA did not return the signed transition packets. We will work with you on those packets in the coming months. We ask that you wait a couple of weeks to talk to us about transition packets so that we will have more availability to answer payroll related questions now. Thanks for working with us.
