All ready for this weekend on Blowering Dam 😀
TS sends its positive thoughts, prayers and all the good vibes we can muster to our member Robert Trolian who suffered bad injuries in a testing blowover yesterday in an 850cc Mod Hydro. He is in the ICU at this time. Get better, Scoop!
Continue to keep Scoop and the Trolian family in your thoughts and prayers. He’s a fighter but needs all of our support.
If there was ever such a thing as an outboard racing Superfan, it was Greg Blackstock: a Northwest Legend!
RIP Greg….we’ll miss you. 😢
Seattle's most original artist, Gregory Blackstock, dies at 77 Blackstock was the city's "artistic savant," a man of many talents.

Tacoma Speedboat is saddened to learn of the passing of member Sheri Hathaway, who passed away last week. Our thoughts are with her family during this difficult time.
Here’s a great video. Whatever happened to the OMC Rotary Outboard program of the 1970’s? Here’s the story.
Ending our 2022 outboard racing season with an extended party mix of photos from last Sunday at Lake Lawrence.
Some background for my camera-geeky friends: This race is on a 1-1/4 mile record course on a really big lake, and the shooting location, while on a dock, is far away from shore. We used “BFL 2.0”, our Canon RF 600mm L lens, adding a 2x extender to take us out to 1200mm. While this limited us to f8 on the aperture, the way our Canon R3 tolerates higher ISO’s allowed us to compensate for lighting issues. And, while good equipment always helps, I really have to hand credit to Christine Gleason, who shot about 90 percent of our work while I pit crewed for Kyle. She continues to amaze me as she becomes more comfortable and confident with using the Mother of all Cameras.
And as I always like to say, prints are available. Shoot me a message and we’ll get it to you! Enjoy.

TS Member John Paramore has “sponsored” memberships for a number of his international boat racing friends, including world water speed record hopeful David Warby. As you can see from below, David is proud to be a TS member, and we wish him much success in his attempts. Between him and Dave Aldred, another Paramore sponsee, it’s not unrealistic to think that some day a TS driver will be the fastest racer on the water!
SUCCESS! TS hosted it's first ever Novice School yesterday at the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum. This was for people who were new racers, relatively new to racing, almost new to racing, old hands but needed a refresher, and so forth. This covered many of the new things that new people need to know about getting started, but maybe weren’t aware of.
TS members presented, with Kyle Bahl covering what a Race Chairman does, Missi Diamond discussed Chief Scorer’s duties and Registration, Jason Diamond laid the groundwork on the Referee’s role, and Carl Lewis discussed Safety Inspection and the Inspection process.
Lots of good questions were asked and answered, and it was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. The immediate feedback was that this was a great “hit”, and we look forward to doing it next year. See the attached photos for some of the highlights.
Finally, a hearty "Thank You!" to Kyle, Missi, Jason and Carl for presenting, the Wyant family for bringing their boat along as a "demo model", and the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum for hosting this event!
DID YOU KNOW?
- TS is one of the fastest growing APBA boat racing clubs in North America?
- TS has over 100 members over 3 different continents?
- TS is hosting a free Novice School on April 2nd that’s open to anyone interested in outboard racing, regardless of year’s experience?
- TS publishes a membership roster at no cost for the exclusive use of its members that is updated monthly?
- TS is one of the most cost-effective membership clubs in America, with $5 dues for a racing membership and only $2 for a non-racing membership?
We said it in 1975, and it’s true in 2022: “TS’s membership roster boasts National Champions, World Record Holders, APBA Hall of Champions members, and some damn good partiers!”
If you’re not a member yet, then perhaps the question you should be asking yourself is ‘why not?’
Join today!
Another great way to support the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum, and get a young driver into the sport!
Here’s a great way to get your son or daughter into outboard racing, AND support the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum at the same time!
