Did you or do you know of someone that signed their youth football player up to play football only to have them experience on game day that your player spent more time on sidelines watching rather than playing? Or did not get a chance to play at all?

I have been part of a youth organization for 10+ years and in my position, I unfortunately see this way too often.

The Norwest Rams Youth Football is a non-profit organization and has been around since 1991. If you truly want your child to play football, learn the sport, and build comrade, you should look to register with the Norwest Rams.

It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that the Norwest Rams will not have a Cheer program this year. We were unable to get coaches in place. If you or know of anyone that would like to be a Cheer coach, please let me know but as of now, Cheer will not be in place this season.

If anything changes for Cheer, I will let you know ASAP!

Football will start tomorrow July 15, 2024. We will be at Point Defiance Elementary on the grass field. Practice will be Monday-Friday from 5:30pm-7:30pm.

Please be sure to have plenty of water.

The Norwest Rams Youth Football and Cheer organization will officially open registration Sunday, June 2, 2024. Age ranges are 7/8U, 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U and 14U for football.

Cheer ages range from 6-15. If you are interested in being a cheer coach, please let us know. All coaches must pass a Federal background check with acceptable results after being interviewed.

Practice will begin Monday, July 8, 2024. For those who have e-mailed already, you will get a response by EOD June 1, 2024. Thank you for your patience.

Wednesday, December 6, 2023, from 6:00pm-8:00pm will be our end of the year event at Defy in Tacoma. You can start to show up at 5:30pm to get signed in and get your socks. This will an opportunity to celebrate our amazing kids for everything they did and to thank everyone for a great season. If you are planning to attend, please respond to this e-mail no later than Monday, December 4, 2023, with how many will be in attendance.

Defy is located at 1680 S. Mildred Street, Tacoma, WA 98465 A waiver will need to completed prior to your child be able to jump.

If you still have equipment that needs to be returned, please bring it to the end of the year event. All gear needs to be returned so that we can get it reconditioned for next season.

Good afternoon Rams Families!

Thank you to everyone for coming out to support our athletes this weekend! All of them did such an amazing job and we are truly proud of everything they have done this season. 🙂

A special congratulations to our 9U for their win. It was awesome!

Thank you to all our volunteers this season as well. This last game we had several of the kids come over and assist with the scoreboard, concessions and the gate. We could not do this without you.

Tomorrow we will be at Truman Middle School from 5:30pm-7:00pm for gear return. Please remember to bring your helmet, shoulder pads, practice pants, game pants and game jersey. Athletes can keep their practice jerseys and socks.

All gear needs to be returned so that we can get it sent out for recertification for next season.

This Saturday, October 14, 2023, we are playing the Federal Way Hawks at Decatur High School located at:

2800 SW 320th St, Federal Way, WA 98023

Please be sure to be in your full game gear.

Our first game is at 10:00am with a 9:00am show up time.

Our second game is at 1:00pm with a 12:00pm show up time.

Cheer should be there at 9:30am in their full cheer uniforms.

Please remember to have your athlete bring a water bottle or something to drink to their games. Snacks will be provided after each game.

October 21, 2023, is our last home game of the season. We are need of volunteers to assist with gate fees, concessions, scoreboard and on the field. All proceeds generated will go back into our programs to support our athletes. I am looking for at least 10-volunteers throughout the day. If you are able to volunteer, please send me an e-mail and we will get you on the schedule. We do not have you volunteer during the times your athlete is playing or cheering. It is usually before or after their games.

Our organization has always been founded on the principles of inclusivity, respect, and fair play. Racism goes against everything we stand for, and we are committed to addressing it head-on. Our goal is to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all of our young athletes, where they can learn, grow, and play the sport they love without fear of discrimination.

The GPSYFL is aware of the issues that have come up and ensure a zero-tolerance policy for racism within our organization. We have taken immediate action to investigate the reported incidents of racism. We understand that these incidents may have shaken your confidence in our organization, and for that, we sincerely apologize. We want you to know that we are fully dedicated to rectifying this situation and making our organization a place where every child and family feels welcome and safe.

We also want to emphasize the importance of speaking up against racism. This Saturday, September 30, 2023, we will not be playing the Junior Huskies as previously scheduled.

Starting Tuesday, October 3rd, practice times will end at 7:00pm, as it is starting to get dark out earlier. Please make sure that your athletes are wearing something to keep them warm during practice. Practice schedule days and start times will remain the same.

Football-Tuesday-Friday 5:30pm-7:00pm

Cheer-Tuesday-Thursday 5:30pm-7:00pm

Game jerseys are supposed to be in today as well. If I get notification, I will bring them to the field ASAP.

I will have our games time for October 7, 2023, against the Sumner Wolfpack and the rest of the season sent out as soon as I have them.

Good afternoon, Rams Families,

I hope that all is well.

Due to the Labor Day holiday weekend, there will not be any practice tomorrow or Monday. Next week starting Tuesday, September 5, 2023, we will be at Truman Middle School for the rest of the season. Cheer practices will drop back to Tuesday-Thursday. Football will be Tuesday-Friday. All times are still 5:30pm-7:30pm.

Game jerseys and cheer uniforms should be here next week in time for our first game.

We still have several players that we still need paperwork on. Each football player should have submitted a completed registration with the code of conduct and concussion form. In addition, we need a current physical, copy of a birth certificate and report card. I have attached the forms should you need one of them.

Saturday, September 9, 2023, we will be playing Rise at Lakes High School. The game times will be published on Sunday as there might be a couple of filler games.

We are also wrapping up our Otis Spunkmeyer Fundraiser. We still have a few days left. If you have any questions, please let me know.

I hope that all is well! This week we are practicing at Silas High School. Starting September 5, 2023, we will be back at Truman Middle School and will be there for the rest of the season. Game schedule is to be set and shared this week with everyone. At this time, our first game is scheduled for September 9, 2023. We are watching the AQI and temperatures daily to make sure that is safe for everyone to be out. Please know that our first priority is the safety of everyone.
