It's the Season of Giving and we are hosting a Holiday Canned Food and Toy Drive this year from November 20 through December 15. All season long, we will be collecting food for our relatives at the Tahoma Indian Center. We are also collecting new, unwrapped toys to be distributed to client families through the Kwawachee Counseling Center (KCC).
If you would like to participate in one of our drives, simply drop your food donation or toy in one of our donation boxes located in our Takopid Main Lobby, or the Kwawachee building HR Lobby or KCC lobby during business hours.
Thanks for helping us make this holiday season magical for one and all!

Friday
The Children’s Museum of Tacoma is very excited to partner with the Tahoma Indian Center and welcome Colette August for a very special story time on Friday, November 24, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. for Native American Heritage Day! Colette will be reading Fry Bread by Kevin Maillard, and afterwards families are invited to participate in a fun coloring activity.
Colette is from Tla’amin First Nation in British Columbia, Canada and serves as the Executive Director at Tahoma Indian Center. With a background in human services and a passion for healing, she actively participates in community RE-building initiatives, and holistic wellness practices. Colette's dedication to her role is evident through her pursuit of a master's degree in tribal governance and her involvement in volunteer work. As a mother of five and a grandmother, she is motivated to create a safe and healthy community for her family. In her spare time, Colette enjoys roller skating, hiking and photography, and Muay Thai training.
As always, admission will be Pay As You Will, and no registration is required. We’d like to thank Tacoma Creates, whose support makes this event available for visitors at the Children’s Museum of Tacoma.

I’d like to share a partner program, Wild Grief. Check out their site https://wildgrief.org.
Common feedback at our Family Journey Campout from guardians is how supportive to their grief process it is to have someone else cook for their family. We can only truly surrender to our grief process if we have our basic needs met.

Introduced by Terri Sulaiman of the Navajo Nation in her Navajo (Diné) language along with an English translation.
Conceived by Navajo Nation Museum director Manuelito Wheeler and his wife Jennifer, this version of STAR WARS: EPISODE IV – A NEW HOPE is dubbed in the Navajo language and voiced by nearly 70 Navajo voice actors. It is the first major motion picture ever dubbed into a Native language. In Navajo with English subtitles (obviously!).
PLEASE NOTE: it is based on the “Special Edition” of STAR WARS with the added scenes and CGI.
Thanks to Johnny Arnoux (peenAquim~seen from afar) for conceiving this program and for his help and encouragement.
