✨Congratulations to our JULY Athlete of the Month, Lisa Cherry!!!✨

Check out what she had to share about her experience so far 👊 ⬇️

1. How long have you been doing CrossFit? 1 year so far!

2. What do you enjoy most about it? I enjoy the community and that each day the workouts are different and can be scaled to fit any ability. 

3. What’s your fave WOD/movement? I am a weirdo and tend to like long sweaty AMRAPS.

4. How does CrossFit help you in your everyday life? I am much stronger since starting CrossFit. It gives me the energy to keep up with my young students everyday, helps me keep active with my growing children and has given me more confidence when tackling physical tasks.

5. What has CF allowed you to achieve that you never thought you’d be able to? Getting a strict pull up, going upside down, being able to do box jumps and feeling confident using barbells and weights.

6. What CF accomplishment are you most proud of? I am proud of getting out of my comfort zone and joining what had always felt like “Scott’s gym.”  I am super pumped that I can now do 3 strict pull ups (on a good day 🤪)

🌟 Congratulations to our June Athlete of the Month, Carlos Godoy!🌟

Carlos has quickly become a staple in the afternoon classes and really livens up the class with his positive attitude and uplifting encouragement!

Here’s what he had to say about his CrossFit journey at Red Hills so far:
1. How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I was doing crossfit about 4 years ago for a few months, but I was never consistent. But I started here in December of last year, and I haven’t given up until now and I won’t.

2. What do you enjoy most about it?
What I enjoy most about doing CrossFit is improving myself in each wod and the healthy competition that makes it more fun

3. What’s your fave WOD/movement?
My favorite movement is back squat and everything that has to do with weights

4. How does CrossFit help you in your everyday life?
Doing CrossFit not only helps me physically, but also on bad days in a way to clear my mind and de-stress.

5. What has CF allowed you to achieve that you never thought you’d be able to?
I was never an athletic person, I was only in crossfit and the gym for short periods of time, when it comes to cardio don’t call me, but now I have managed to exceed my same expectations in that area, I can run long distances (not so long ) or other complicated movements like handstand push up that I never thought I could do this.

6. What CF accomplishment are you most proud of?
I am proud of myself, because I was never so constant talking about physical activities, and that I enjoyed it.

My stay in Red Hills has been good because there is a good environment, everyone helps you and supports you, they celebrate your PRs as if they were theirs. This is a place where you feel at home and I am happy to have signed up here.

Looking to get your kids moving this summer? Try out our Fir Kids class at Red Hills!

We are a CrossFit gym and have a CrossFit Kids certified instructor. We will walk through a 45min-1hour session with the kids going over learning spatial awareness, moving efficiently and how to make moving fun! This can include games, obstacle courses and some specific instruction on certain movements.

May, we saw a checkmark challenge- to complete the task each day and tally total number of days completed.

RX winners- Jill Durrett and Guido Marchionda with 23 days each!
Scaled winner- Marlisha Edwards with 11 days total!

Looking at June…carrying on with a daily checkmark challenge this month. Complete one 5-minute AB AMRAP a day. Each week will be a new workout, this first week is “Kettlebell Kraze” 😎

🧘‍♂️Yoga for Squats, this Sunday 10:00am🧘‍♀️

You don’t want to miss this special yoga session!

90 minute class focused on front squats.

We will spend about 30-45 mins covering pre-squat banded/roller mobility, and then 30-45 min focused on after-squats yoga recovery.

Check out what he had to share about his experience so far 👊 ⬇️

1. How long have you been doing CrossFit? Started Crossfit in 2012 at Crossfit Tally. Moved to Active Movement and then RedHills when we moved to this side of town.

2. What do you enjoy most about it? I enjoy the social aspect of working out with people you get to know. I’m not great at working out on my own so the social aspect helps push me and keep me engaged.

3. What’s your fave WOD/movement? Murph and Cindy. Murph is a mental grind and a great test to see where I am year to year.

4. How does CrossFit help you in your everyday life? It keeps me healthy but more importantly it helps me burn off the stress of the work life.

5. What has CF allowed you to achieve that you never thought you’d be able to? In one word, longevity. I’m still able to do things at 50 that I was barely able to do at 25.

6. What CF accomplishment are you most proud of? The fact that I have stuck with it after all these years!

We are excited to kick off our nutrition challenge starting on June 1! This 6-week challenge is designed to kickstart your wellness goals by focusing on building simple habit-based routines that you can carry with you to continue fueling your gains on a daily basis. Join us May 31st at 6:30 pm for an introduction to clean eating and to learn more about the challenge.  This event and the challenge are open to everyone, so make sure to bring your friends!

✨Congratulations to our April Athlete of the Month, !!✨

Lauren has been with us for a year now and has been crushing goals in and outside of the gym. She recently completed a marathon!

Check out what she had to share about her experience so far 👊 ⬇️

1. How long have you been doing CrossFit?
The open this past year marked one year of doing CrossFit! I was hooked from the first workout!

2. What do you enjoy most about it?
What I enjoy the most about CrossFit and being at Red Hills in particular is the community. I appreciate the encouragement and the team aspect of overcoming challenges and developing new skills together. I also love being challenged each time I come into the gym!

3. What’s your fave WOD/movement?
My favorite movements are cleans, front and/or back squats, hand stand pushups, rope climbs, burpees, and running!

4. How does CrossFit help you in your everyday?
CrossFit has helped me in my everyday life in that no matter what obstacle comes, I can overcome it. I love the idea that we go in and battle with ourselves and strive to beat who we were yesterday. It has given me a new outlook on my everyday life and challenged me to keep working hard toward my goals.

5. What has CF allowed you to achieve that you never thought you’d be able to?
Several years ago when I was inactive, being a part of CrossFit was a dream I had but I would never take the chance on just going. Now, it feels like I am quite literally living my dream. My goal is to be my strongest self inside and out and CrossFit has done that for me. My only regret is not starting sooner!

6. What CF accomplishment are you most proud of?
I am most proud of some recent skills that I got for the first time. PR’s on lifts, got kipping pull ups, and rope climbs for the first time. Excited to keep learning!

I really appreciate the genuine care and investment from the coaches and other members in my journey! I learn so much from everyone each time I am at the gym and I am excited for what else is to come! The best part of CrossFit to me is the people and it’s an honor to be a part of Red Hills! Let’s freakin’ goooo!❤️‍🔥
