Mrs. Gilliard's class used graphic features to write a text message story during reading.

Our new Assistant Principal, Mrs. Sarah Swan has enjoyed being a guest reader in several classrooms this week. She read Knuffle Bunny which is one of her favorite books! The lucky classes that heard Mrs. Swan read were Mrs. Upshaw, Mrs. Guzman, Mrs. Stone, Mrs. Gomez, and Mrs. Mathis. She will continue to read in classrooms to build relationships with the teachers and students.

Mrs. Newell and Mrs. Garner’s 3rd grade classes are learning about the different layers of soil. Today they were able to make edible soil using different types of food items to represent the different layers of soil.

Mrs. Melissa Luke, John Ivey’s mom, was a guest reader recently in Mrs. King ‘s classroom. One of GOB’s goal’s this year is for every class to have a “Guest Reader” once a month. Please let your child’s teacher know you would like to volunteer. Building Blue Devil Readers

Mrs. Drawdy’s 5th grade class played a math review game to practice for their math test.

Mrs Brooks class is learning about place value by using dice to make various numbers and draw out how many tens and ones it takes to create that number.

Mrs. Weldon’s 2nd graders are learning about making 10 by playing games in the classroom! Learning is so much fun!

Check out these amazing 1st and 2nd grade artists at G.O.Bailey. We have been studying Dutch artist Piet Mondrian for the past few weeks in Art. He enjoyed using the primary colors (red, yellow and blue) as well as black and white in many of his paintings. Mondrian also included horizontal and vertical lines, often creating squares and rectangles in his paintings. Our students cut their own squares and rectangles and arranged them. Then they added black lines using the edge of an index card. Our G.O. Bailey artists created beautiful abstract art pieces.

Mrs. Green introduced a new pet turtle to her Pre K students. The students are so excited to welcome the turtle to their classroom. 🐢🐢🐢

On the parent survey that was completed last Spring, parents said they wanted to be more involved. One way to do that is to join PTO! Don’t miss our first meeting this week. We are so excited to have Mrs. Hardy teaching in our STEM Lab this year. This past week, students learned about their five senses, and used them to make scientific observations. Learning can be fun! 💙

G.O. Bailey has some of the hardest working teachers! Today, our “Sunshine” committee delivered a sweet treat to all the sweet teachers at GOB today because ‘Teaching is ❤️ work!’
