Water conservation and education were key themes at the Salina water local consult meeting on Wednesday. With 80+ attendees, the discussions are raising important issues and opportunities for water in our state.
With 135+ participants, the regional public input meeting that took place yesterday, in Wichita, had wide-ranging conversations from concern about the cost of water improvements to recognizing “we have all 3 of the issues here so we can set the tone for a statewide perspective in addressing our water issues.” Thanks to all who attended!

Exceeding projected attendance, about 90 participants added their voices to the conversation today in Chanute, talking about water investments and priorities. There was an increased focus on problems outside the southeast region, including one quote, "the aquifer is not their [Western Kansas] problem, it's all our problem given the size of ag." And, "if we have the money to run into the storm [address water problems], we need to for our kids and grandkids."
Our Chanute meeting location for today is a little difficult to find via GPS. The meeting is located at the Southeast Kansas Impact Conference Center, which is circled below!
