Join us on a tour of AHEPA-192 IV Project in Des Moines!

As part of our Field Trip Friday series, staff was able to visit the AHEPA job site last Friday. The AHEPA project is a 90 unit, 3 story tall apartment complex. We are currently in phase 2 of framing and will be starting the 3rd and final phase this week. This project is unique in the fact that all of the framing material is pre-cut before it arrives to site. There are MEP rough in’s going on throughout the interior. Air barrier, windows and brick are to come in the next couple weeks.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Darrell Ball.

He will be missed greatly by his family and his many associates in the construction industry. While Darrell worked for many prominent general construction firms, he was especially proud of his time at RJC which eventually became Taylor Ball Construction, Ball Construction Services, and Ball Team Construction. He was particularly proud of his involvement in the construction of the Des Moines Convention Center (now the YMCA), the addition to the Des Moines Art Center, and the reconstruction of the Iowa Cub’s Principal Park Stadium.

Last week we enjoyed attending the groundbreaking at Living History Farms for their new Cultivation Center! Living History Farms is such a unique and captivating place in the Des Moines metro, and we are very excited to be partnering with them and FEH Design on this project!

Join us on our site tour of one of our current projects underway! Ball Team is in the midst of this 7-floor remodel of the Lucas Building in downtown Des Moines.

4th & 6th Floors have been painted and ceiling grid has been installed. Not far behind, 5th Floor has been painted and ceiling grid will be completed this month. The lower two floors of Phase 1 (2nd & 3rd) have been framed and drywall work is ongoing. Millwork and doors are being installed on the top 3 floors and will continue down as the project progresses.

Check out the progress at our Ahepa 192-IV project site! This project is a new 90-unit apartment building for senior/low income. It is a 3-story wood-framed project that will have a total of 78,247 square feet.

Take me out to the Ball Game! Baseball season is upon us, and Ball Team has partnered with the City of Des Moines and the Iowa Cubs at Principal Park for their recent improvements project!

The project consisted of a new batter’s eye wall per MLB’s new requirements, a new addition on the north side of the existing clubhouse facility, and a renovation to the existing Umpire’s Area. The new addition to the existing clubhouse houses the new training room for the visiting team, new weight room, multi-purpose room, as well as new stairway to the second floor. The clubhouse renovation includes new underfloor plumbing, new masonry and stud walls, new plumbing fixtures, lockers and interior finishes throughout.

Congratulations to Austin Horner of the BALL TEAM, LLC Construction Services for earning the Master Builder Designation. Austin is one of just 15 recipients to receive the Master Builder Achievement Award this year.

We're grateful for your continuous pursuit of personal and professional excellence in the commercial construction industry, Austin!

Last Friday the office staff took a Field Trip to The Slate in downtown Des Moines. The fourth (top) floor has cabinets and laminate floors installed, third floor has cabinets in, second floor has been sheet rocked and painted, and first floor was at insulation and sheet rock stage. We are looking forward to seeing the final product!

Field Trip Friday's destination today was The Slate at Gray's Lake project. Current work on the project includes the underground parking level, foundation and stair/elevator shafts. This will definitely be a project to visit again on our Field Trip Friday in the future! When completed, this 4-story senior living center will have 132 units for a total of 181,347 square feet.

Fieldtrip Friday!
Staff visited the State Historical Building project for . Ball Team is currently working on the skylight and roof replacement project. This project has been very unique, as the old skylights were removed leaving the building open to the elements through winter months. Special precautions were made to keep the building as dry as possible and ensure priceless artifacts remain preserved.

This week Faith Lutheran Church & Preschool held their Ribbon Cutting Ceremony in honor of the completion of their addition and renovation project! Now the church has their much needed extra space for their members to enjoy!

Progress at our Slate Senior Living project!
Slate Senior Living is a new 4-story active senior living center with underground parking. It will have a 132 units and a total of 181,347 square feet. Project will also include a one story clubhouse amenity space. Cast-in-place foundation walls with precast planks, columns and beams will make up the underground parking structure, CMU elevator shafts, and levels 1-4 will be wood-framed.

Staff was able to visit the job site of the Des Moines Golf and Country Club Phase 2 project today, and it is coming along great!
This casual dining space is located above the new Pro Shop, which was Phase 1 of the project for Des Moines Golf.

Ball Team has recently wrapped up Phase 1 at Des Moines Golf and Country Club. Phase 1 was a 4,400 square foot renovation to their Pro Shop, complete with golf simulator!

Ball Team Managing Member Rick Ball is also the president of the Iowa Catholic Radio Foundation. The Foundation along with Iowa Catholic Radio 1150 AM 88.5 FM 94.5 FM held the 1st Annual Celebrate Country Concert this last week and was a great success. Over 400 people reserved their VIP tables at Horizon Events Center and enjoyed a great show by Lorrie Morgan, Jesse Keith Whitley , and Eli Alger. Thank you to the artists, and to all the concert goers! We hope you had as much fun as we did!
