Channel Islands Chamber Orchestra's final concert of the season is tonight, May 4 at 7:00 pm and tomorrow, May 5 at 3:00 pm at Rancho Campana PAC in Camarillo. Our soloists for Rutter's Mass for the Children, the final piece in the program, are soprano, Kyra Folk-Farber and David Erik Peterson, bass-baritone, pictured here during a rehearsal with the 165 voice choir and full orchestra. Don't miss the final concert in our season: Choral Spectacular May 4 at 7:00 pm and May 5 at 3:00 pm both at Rancho Campana PAC in Camarillo. The highlight will be a performance of John Rutter's Mass for Children. It promises to be a truly spectacular evening of choral music. Also on the program are Mozart's Missa Brevis, Ave Verum Corpus and the overture from "The Marriage of Figaro".

Steve performed on late-night TV shows hosted by Johnny Carson, Jay Leno, Arsenio Hall, David Letterman, and Conan O’Brien, and he made four appearances on PBS’s Austin City Limits show. Steve has performed on several movie scores, including The Firm and Major Leagues, and on TV shows such as The George Carlin Show, Beverly Hills 90210, Titans, The Nanny, Thirtysomething, and The Crazy Ones. In the recording studios of Nashville and Hollywood, Marsh has performed on Gold and platinum-selling records by Lyle Lovett, George Strait, and Brian Setzer.
CHICO's 4th Concert is: American Masterworks: Strike Up The Band.
It promises to be a toe tapping, smiling producing evening!
Come hear our featured Soloists: Steven Marsh on saxophone, Dean Hinkley on vibraphone, and Larry Tuttle on jazz bass. They are all accomplished virtuosos who will impress and inspire you. The program includes the works of well known composers John Williams and George Gershwin.

A couple of photos from CHICO's Young Artist Series held Feb 4 & 5, 2024. Such a talented group of musicians. The orchestra was thrilled to work with Eileen Zhang, Lori Qian, Benjamin Chung, Mia Eddy and Kaleb Chavez. The orchestra also included 3 Ventura High School students playing alongside our regular orchestra members. A good experience for everyone involved.
Channel Island Chamber Orchestra's first $1,000 Youth Outreach Scholarships were presented during our Young Artists Series Concert on Feb 4&5. Congratulations Allison Laak, Issac Choi and Drake Nguyen. We recognize your talents and wish you success in following your musical paths.

She will conduct a performance of Mozart’s Coronation Mass, K. 317 at Lisbon’s magnificent Basilica da Estrela. An additional performance of Mozart’s Requiem will be conducted by MidAmerica’s founder and general director, Peter Tiboris. Four cultural tours are included in the residency package. The Organization
The Mission of San Buenaventura Orchestra, dba: Channel Islands Chamber Orchestra (CHICO) is to enrich the cultural community of Ventura County by providing performance of classical and contemporary music to audiences of all generations.
CHICO hosts annually: five concert series, a 4th grade assembly, and a young artists soloist competition.
“CHICO” is 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Job Summary
CHICO seeks a Director of Artistic Administration to oversee strategic vision and operations. This committed director must possess excellent communication and organizational skills and have an interest in music, arts, and arts education. This position reports to the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors and will work closely with the Artistic Director.
Overall Responsibilities
Oversee and Coordinate Orchestra Operations
-Coordinate with the Artistic Director to schedule concerts, rehearsals, and venues
-Interact with the music contractor and musicians—maintain musician roster and email list, take attendance and collect administrative paperwork from musicians, maintain music licensing and
insurance records, distribute checks
-Be point of contact for and assist stage manager in coordinating and meeting staging needs for
all rehearsals and concerts
-Attend all concerts and rehearsals (about 30 per year), plus any special events
-Attend board meetings and provide support to committees
-Assist bookkeeper
Publicity
-Work with graphics volunteer to create concert posters and programs, an annual brochure, and other materials as needed to promote the orchestra
-Use Mailchimp for email marketing, post on social media, create and distribute press releases, post events on community calendars
Fundraising
-Maintain pledge drives, increase fundraising, increase donor base, implement trust donations and monthly donations, with participation from the Board of Directors
-Work with Board in identifying new fundraising sources or strategies
Additional Duties
-Identify, create and implement strategic plans, keeping the President of the Board apprised
-Recruit and manage volunteers, supported by the Board of Directors
-Organize annual youth auditions and 4th grade concert in conjunction with the Artistic Director
Skills and Requirements
Excellent organizational, communication and creative thinking skills
Microsoft Office Suite
Google Workspace
Nonprofit experience preferred
Knowledge of local arts and nonprofits preferred
Bachelor’s Degree preferred, not required
Other Job Information
Part-time. Estimated 20 hours a week, depending on the time of year.
$30K/yr salary
3 days paid sick leave per year
Flexible hours
Work from home
There will be a job performance review by the Executive Committee at 3 & 6 months which will include possible salary bumps; yearly thereafter.
