Dr. Lomas joined Dr. Deb Guthmann and Grace Lester, Gallaudet Honors student, presented at the APA Symposium on law this week.
Dr. Lomas was recently at the Mayo Clinic to refine his skills in medical simulation, a training tool we hope to bring to Gallaudet.

Dr. Lomas recently presented on simulations for counselors and nurses. We hope to bring this technology to our students at Gallaudet soon!
Dr. Lomas has been working as a consultant on this film. It tells the story of a Deaf woman who was abused as a child and, instead of receiving treatment, went through the justice system, only to experience discrimination and injustice.

The grant is to support the development of evidence-based treatments for DHH children and training of clinicians in working with DHH children. Resources for families with DHH children are being developed to fill gaps in mental health care for DHH youth. DHHCRC will be making videos to show families using different therapy techniques to create resources for families with DHH members.
Who? We are looking for 4 families in the DMV with children from 2 to 8 years old. We would like families of DHH children and/or DHH parents with all kinds of communication preferences to be represented.
Where? When? Filming will happen on Gallaudet campus mid-August and will take a couple of hours. Families will be compensated for their time.

Our own Dr. Lomas has been working with colleagues to address the injustices faced by deaf people in our Justice system. Dr. Deb Guthmann is pictured below at the annual conference of the American Psychological Association.
Being Michelle Advisor Deb Guthmann-Ternus presented at the American Psychological Association Conference yesterday in Minneapolis. People in the audience were very responsive to the topic indicating feelings of anger and wanting to do something about the inequities they saw.
