Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind Thank you for being a great host! Just a peek of few great things FSDB has to offer! (Yes, I had to go to the beach-- one of many great things about FSDB is that the beach is only 15 minutes away!)
Few fun facts about FSDB:
The Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind (FSDB) was established in 1885 with support of the State of Florida and private contributions.
Based in St. Augustine, we are recognized as one of the top schools for the deaf and blind in the nation and the only one of its kind in Florida.
FSDB is a fully accredited, tuition-free state public school for eligible Pre-K and K-12 students who are deaf/hard of hearing, blind/visually impaired, or deafblind.
The school serves approximately 1,000+ students each year through statewide parent-infant/family programs as well as a Montessori Pre-K early learning center and K-12 elementary, middle, and high schools on its campus.

A message from Virginia:
Greetings friends and members of Virginia Hands & Voices,
We are pleased to announce the progress that has been made with regards to bringing a Deaf Mentor Program to Virginia that will support families with deaf and hard of hearing children. Our volunteer team is composed of over 20 individuals who are passionate about seeing this program come to fruition.
However, we need your help! The Virginia Deaf Mentor Program will be utilizing the national SKI HI Curriculum. We invite you to learn more by visiting https://deaf-mentor.skihi.org/. Currently, 20 states that have Deaf Mentor Programs are using the SKI HI curriculum and we are eager to bring this support to families of deaf and hard of hearing children in Virginia.
Our fundraising goal of $15,000 will help us implement the Deaf Mentor Program by training 15 Deaf Mentors, representing each region in Virginia and providing Deaf Mentor services to more than 60 families. Based on a survey we circulated earlier, we heard from over 100 families who are extremely interested in having a Deaf Mentor work with their family. We have currently raised $7000 towards our project and need your help to meet our goal.
Please consider donating to our project so we can ensure our deaf and hard of hearing children are receiving the support and resources their families desire. The easiest way to make a donation is by visiting https://giv.li/o48m6c and choosing your donation amount. No donation is too small, and every dollar received will go directly towards bringing the SKI HI training here to Virginia.
We invite you to review the attached flyer and share it with your family, friends, and colleagues. If you have any questions about the Deaf Mentor Program, the SKI HI curriculum or how the funds raised will be used, we invite you to reach out to Eric Raff at [email protected].
Thank you for your generous support.
