We will be discussing the events of January 6, 2021 for a long time. Will 1.6 be an aberration in American democracy or an ominous sign of what will come? What do deaf people of color and deaf people from outside the country think? How are they responding? What do the events mean for the future of anti-racism work and a multiracial democracy - and why should we care?
Please join the Center for Democracy in Deaf America (CDDA) and the Center for Black Deaf Studies (CBDS) for a conversation that will explore these questions with:
-Victorica Monroe, CEO of Monroe Pedagogy
-Chris CJ Johnson, Faculty member, Univ. of Minnesota, and CBDS Advisory Council Board Member
-Brandon Williams, NTID Program Coordinator for Diversity and Wellness
-Dr. Franklin Torres, faculty member, English Department and Faculty Administrator, International Affairs
-Dr. Danielle Thompson-Ochoa, faculty member, IDMA
Dr. Carolyn McCaskill, Director of CBDS, and Dr. Brendan Stern and Lorenzo Lewis, of CDDA, will open.
