This morning, Rabbi Jonah Dov Pesner joined Bishop Rev. Dr. William Barber II and Repairers of the Breach for the first Moral Monday Season of Prayer Press Conference and Prayer Vigil. G*thered on the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court, clergy from a range of faith traditions urged the nation to pray for the process of democracy, voting rights, and to conduct the ongoing presidential campaign in a manner rooted in truth, justice, love, and equity.
Rabbi Pesner called us to act to ensure that every voice is heard and every voice is counted. Join the Reform Movement's Every Voice, Every Vote Campaign and play your part at www.RAC.org/EVEV.

“There is no greater mitzvah than redeeming the captives. We’re here because we love Israel and we’re afraid. And we’re concerned for her future. And I call on everyone right now to join our brothers and sisters in Israel to demand a swift return of the hostages and an end to this war.”
Yesterday, Rabbi Josh Weinberg (Union for Reform Judaism Vice President of Israel and Reform Zionism and ARZA Executive Director) spoke at the UnXeptable rally before Prime Minister Netanyahu’s address to Congress. Watch his full remarks at

"Borrowing from the High Holidays model, we could conceptualize this season from Juneteenth to the Fourth of July as the 'days of freedom and equality.'" Read more from Robert P. Jones, President & Founder of Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI), on creating a season of critical patriotism between Juneteenth and Independence Day:
Creating the New “Days of Awe”: Looking Toward a Season of Critical Patriotism between Juneteenth and Independence Day To our whites-only Southern Baptist congregation, the Fourth of July was our holiday, proudly celebrating our rightful inheritance of the American promised land. But what, to the white American, is the 19th of June?

We are relieved that the Supreme Court temporarily reinstated a pause on Idaho’s near-total abortion ban but remain deeply concerned by the decision to return the case to lower courts. In the first case concerning a state abortion ban since the overturning of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court had an opportunity to affirm that federal law protects emergency abortion care. Instead, by returning the case to lower courts, the Supreme Court left the door open for future challenges to emergency abortion care, placing lives and abortion rights in jeopardy. In The Forward, the URJ’s Yolanda Savage-Narva and the RAC’s Rabbi Jonah Pesner address the increasing prevalence of antisemitism and argue against attributing its rise to DEI initiatives, while advocating for a unified effort to combat hate while supporting diverse communities. Read more:
Antisemitism is on the Rise. Blaming DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) Only Perpetuates It The Israel-Hamas war, like so many wars before it, has upended society’s harmony. In the United States, incidents of antisemitism have skyrocketed. Students on college campuses and in our K-12 educational institutions continue to report threats, intimidation, and bullying, and many question their ...

We applaud today’s Supreme Court ruling in United States v. Rahimi preventing people subject to domestic violence restraining orders from possessing fi****ms. Read our full statement with Women of Reform Judaism at https://rac.org/press-room/reform-jewish-movement-commends-supreme-court-decision-restricting-guns-domestic-abusers
Even as we welcome today’s decision, there is still work to be done. Gun violence and domestic violence are lethally connected, and dangerous gaps persist in protections for survivors and future victims. Due to loopholes in federal law, stalkers and some dating partners with a history of domestic violence are still permitted to possess fi****ms.
