CONSTELLATION HAS STIMULATED THE CITY'S CREATIVE ECONOMY FOR 17 YEARS 💫

Our theatre has sold over 120,000 tickets to residents of all DC wards, Maryland, Virginia, and visitors to the capital. Our patrons enjoy dining, shopping, and exploring the vibrant 14th St. NW neighborhood 💥

We partner with local businesses like Colada, Room & Board, TRADE, Barcelona, Franklin Hall, Saint Ex, Bar Pilar, and Miss Pixies to host events and cross-promote. During the pandemic, we paid contractors in full for canceled projects and have since created opportunities for over 200 artists!

Since our funding in 2007, we have brought to life numerous diverse and vibrant stories. Constellation received the John Aniello Award for Outstanding Emerging Company from the Helen Hayes Awards in 2009 and the prestigious National Theatre Company Award from the American Theatre Wing in 2013. 🔥

According to Metro Weekly magazine, Constellation does "some of the best, most adventurous, most reliable work in town, all presented on an epic scale with a level of intimacy that can’t be beat.” 🌌

Soon after our founding in 2007, The Washington Post called our first production, "a promising debut for a company that seems determined to dream big." Today, with more Helen Hayes awards than seasons under our belt, we celebrate our commitment to telling big, powerful stories in an intimate space. 🌌

Our 1,880 square-foot black box at Source has been countlessly transformed into extraordinary worlds. From Broadway scores played by a six-piece orchestra to intricate soundscapes created by world-renowned Tom Teasley and Chao Tian, we share these stories mere steps away from the audience.

THROWBACK THURSDAY 🔥

An adaptation by Sarah Ruhl of Virginia Woolf’s luminous novel, Orlando was on stage October 12th through November 11th, 2023. Directed by Nick Martin, this production traced a young man's journey over 300 years of self-discovery, in pursuit of love, power, and personal fulfillment.

Labeled "visually delicious and humorous" by DC Theatre Arts, Orlando captivated audiences with its rich, imaginative storytelling and engaging performances.

Our production of Desperate Measures was Helen Hayes Recommended! Running from February 15, to March 17, 2024, Desperate Measures captivated audiences with its playful charm.

Described by the Washington City Paper as "hilarious," Desperate Measures was celebrated as an "irreverent, sexy, silly musical seriously funny." Directed by our Founding Artistic Director, Allison Arkell Stockman, this rollicking musical was inspired by Shakespeare’s Measure For Measure.🌵
