Robert A. Fahr Watervliet Public Library

The Watervliet Public Library endeavors to be a "communi-library". From the beginning we have had tremendous support from the community.

The Watervliet Public Library was founded in May 1953 under the auspices of the Watervliet Civic Chest, Inc. The original Library holdings consisted solely of donations from the public and the original work force consisted solely of volunteers. Financial support came primarily from the Chest, although important donations also came from the Watervliet Rotary Club, the Watervliet Lodge of Elks, and

Some pictures of our visit from Karli and Daisy today! We learned a ton about service animals and their handlers, got to hear Karli's new book, and even got to pet Daisy on her break from working!

Thank you so much Karli for the great time.

Stay tuned: Karli's second book will be available to borrow soon!

For research purposes only, of course! 🐱

Our last big event of the summer!

We're bringing in Chloe from across the river at the Troy Library for this one! She offers various sewing and embroidery programs and this one certainly caught our eye. We'll be making axolotl keychains/plushies on August 27th at 4. This is something we have been looking forward to ALL SUMMER. Just look at that little face!

Don't miss this event!

As always, registration is required and all materials will be provided. We only have 15 spots for this one! You can call or come in to register. We really hope to have a full house for this.

Tuesday, August 13th we will have the honor of hosting Karli White and her service dog Daisy! Karli will read from her book and attendees will get to see Daisy in person. Author visits are always great but Karli is a local author so we are doubly excited to welcome her into the library!

You can find several copies of "Daisy the Service Dog" in the Upper Hudson Library System if you want to check out the book before her visit.

Please register so we know how many people to expect. We want another great turnout so we can show our support of Karli and Daisy!

All materials and tools will be provided. Registration is required. 7 robot kits available. Program is appropriate for children 7 and older.

We love book donations!

However, please keep in mind that any books left outside the building or in our library materials drop box are considered garbage and are thrown away. All book donations must be brought in to us during open hours. Leaving them outside creates a hazard for our seniors visiting the Senior Center and also disqualifies materials from being put in our book sale or on our shelves.

We hate to be so severe about our policies but the amount of materials that have been left in our returns drop box and outside of the building has gotten out of hand!

Spectrum is at it again! As some of our neighbors may know, Internet and phone service has been on and off all day. We’ve been through periods today with no Internet, so please keep in mind that some (most) of our normal services may not be available today. We currently have no phone service so we will be unable to answer phone calls. We hope to be fully functional tomorrow! (Sent from Director’s iPhone)
