We are proud of our snowplow crews - they are the best in the business! Part of the reason they are so good is that training is held before the season really starts, although we had a little snow on Halloween that our seasoned drivers managed. Yesterday, Grey & Associates, a full service safety company, held a classroom session then ran our crews through the paces at our facility. Even though we have a lot of new people on the crews, everyone mastered the classroom training and obstacle course.

Waves of snow showers and squalls are expected through this afternoon, with visibility issues possible. Clear your lights and windows to see and be seen. Drive carefully. Happy Halloween!

We have a new weekly garbage, recycling and yard waste curbside collection company starting December 1st. LRS will drop off new carts and WM (Waste Management) will pick up their carts through the month of November. Many things will stay the same, but the new service will have some changes. Check out the LRS brochure at https://www.waukeganil.gov/DocumentCenter/View/9151/Waukegan-LRS-Brochure and their website at https://www.lrsrecycles.com/waukegan Tell your neighbors!

The City of Waukegan chose LRS to provide weekly garbage, recycling and yard waste curbside collection beginning December 1st. With this new service, every home will receive a new wheeled 95-gallon garbage cart and 65-gallon recycling cart, although a larger size for recycling may be requested. Additional garbage and recycle carts are available to rent. Yard waste sticker and subscription programs will be similar to the current system; stickers from the current WM system will not be accepted as of December 1st. Fall curbside leaf vacuuming will start the last week of October and go through the first week of December.
