Anoche fuimos a Red Rocks para ver la puesta del sol. ¡Hace mucho viento hoy y casi nos llevó mientras caminos al Centro Histórico de las Mujeres! Aprendimos sobre las mujeres de la familia Evans, cuyos esfuerzos beneficiaron la Cruz Roja y el movimiento sufragio. Después hicimos un tour del Museo de Arte y vimos arte del periodo precolombino y colonial + muchas exposiciones e instalaciones por artistas hispanos contemporáneos. ¡Los estudiantes disfrutaron mucho de la experiencias interactivas!

The last few days have been filled with learning experiences and adventures. Local Chicano artist and professor emeritus Carlos Fresquez spoke with students about his experience as an artist and activist in Denver. Carlos’s family has been in the United States since the 1600s! His friend, Su Teatro’s Executive Artistic Director Tony Garcia gave us a captivating tour of the theater and its history. He described Su Teatro as “for the community, about the community, by the community”. Friday we headed to St. Mary’s Glacier and stopped by the Indian Hot Springs on the way home to relax our sore muscles. We capped off the weekend by enjoying Venezuelan arepas and visiting the Cinco de Mayo Festival.

El día de la graduación

Nuestra última semana aquí! Tuvimos graduación el viernes. luego el sábado nos dirigimos al volcán y la plantación de café soka! finalmente llegamos a casa ayer y lo pasamos muy bien!

¡Fuimos a Manuel Antonio este fin de semana! ¡El viernes llegamos y nos detuvimos en diferentes sitios y vimos cocodrilos! Fuimos a la playa el sábado y recorrimos el parque nacional. ¡Luego el domingo fuimos en un catamarán y fuimos a bucear y nadar! ¡Entrando en la última semana ahora!

la semana pasada hemos explorado mucho. ¡Las clases están en pleno apogeo y asistimos a clases de baile, yoga y cocina!

¡Empezamos nuestro fin de semana en San José en el Museo Nacional del Teatro! El sábado nos dirigimos a sarapique y recorrimos una plantación de plátanos y plantamos árboles en la selva tropical. Luego, el domingo hicimos rafting en aguas bravas y, por supuesto, comimos muchos buenos!

Hear the works of Martín Espada, winner of the 2021 National Book Award for Poetry, in his own voice at the Michaelson, Briner & Kildahl Literary Symposium tomorrow evening. Espada will read selections of his poems at 6 p.m. Nov. 3 in the McCaskey Lyceum and will sign books after. National Book Award winner Martín Espada will read selections of his poetry during the annual Michaelson, Briner & Kildahl Literary Symposium at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, in the McCaskey Lyceum. This is some powerful stuff, so don't miss this chance to hear it in the author's own voice!

Espada will sign books afterward. Raccoon River Press LLC will sell copies of the prize-winning "Floaters," while the North American Review will sell its recent issue featuring Espada. Hope to see you there!

Dr. Montgomery recently visited our Santiago de Chile study abroad program USAC at Universidad Andrés Bello. He explored the city with Spanish majors and who are currently studying in Santiago.
