🤍What excited you most about music therapy as a profession/your internship?
- The fact that I can apply my musical abilities into practice uses for my clients and also how much therapy keeps evolving over time.

- I just really liked getting hands on experience with practicum and getting to know clients.

🤍What excited you most about music therapy as a profession/your internship?
- I am excited to put my practice into almost a full school year worth of clients. I have had so many great clients in my time at Wartburg and have always wanted to spend more time with them. I am also excited to explore a new place.
🤍What did you love most about Wartburg/studying music therapy at Wartburg?
- I loved all of the opportunities and relationships I built all over campus. Wartburg allowed me to fulfill my degree in 4 years, but also be involved in so many things on campus. I am not a person to sit back and do nothing, and Wartburg definitely gave me the opportunity to get out there. I also made so many connections with future MT’s that I will always hold close to my heart.

🤍What excited you most about music therapy as a profession/your internship?
- I am excited for all of the opportunities my internship has to offer. It’s exciting to be able to continue my learning in a new setting with new perspectives. I look forward to improving my musical skills and therapy knowledge along the way!
🤍What did you love most about Wartburg/studying music therapy at Wartburg?
- I love the connections I have made- whether that be with classmates, professors, or practicum clients it has been nothing short of special. I am thankful for all of the opportunities I have had in the last four years, especially within the Music Therapy program.

- Behavioral Health Unit at Avera Hospital Sioux Falls, SD
🤍What excited you most about music therapy as a profession/your internship?
- I am excited for trying a new field and being one of the first interns at Avera. I am also excited that I can go into the hospice and cancer unit as well as LifeScape, a facility for children with disabilities, to observe their sessions.
🤍What did you love most about Wartburg/studying music therapy at Wartburg?
- I love how involved and invested all of the professors are in your future. Whether you are taking a lesson, in the classroom, or just walking the halls, professors genuinely want to know about your goals and help you achieve them.

🤍If you have an internship, where?
- Note-able Music Therapy in Lakeville, MN working with a wide range of ages with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other behavioral/cognitive disorders.
🤍What excited you most about music therapy as a profession/your internship?
- I’m very excited to work with such a wide variety of clients and focus more on how music connects with Autism as well as the impacts it has on the brain. I am also looking forward to using both of my majors (music therapy and music education) and applying it to my clients. I hope to work with children in the future, but I am excited to broaden my horizon and work with many different ages during my internship.
🤍What did you love most about Wartburg/studying music therapy at Wartburg?
- I loved getting to work with a variety of different clients and being able to make connections with them during sessions. I am also thankful that I was able to peruse both music therapy and music education as a dual degree in just 4 years! There is a great sense of community here at Wartburg and your professors truly do want you to succeed. I have loved becoming an advocate for music therapy and I can’t wait to see where my future takes me!

🤍What excited you most about music therapy as a profession/your internship?
- I am most excited to be exposed to a variety of populations throughout my internship, as well as learning how to collaborate with other professionals in a hospital setting. I look forward to improving my skills as a musician and therapist and seeing the difference I can make in people’s lives!
🤍What did you love most about Wartburg/studying music therapy at Wartburg?
- I have loved the ample opportunities I have been granted at Wartburg while building connections with those around me. I deeply value the meaningful music experiences I have had so far, and I look forward to creating more in the future!

Music therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program. For Leah Cam ’22, Wartburg’s Music Therapy program offered her many opportunities to work with clients of all ages, starting in her first year.
"Wartburg has set me up for success in the field of music therapy by collaborating with many different placements in and around Waverly that allow students to come work with clients in their care. I was also given the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients from those in nursing homes to teen and adult shelters,” said Leah.

What excites you the most about music therapy/an internship?
"I'm excited to continue to witness the impact music has in creating positive changes in people's lives. I’m also looking forward to growing professionally as a music therapist and forming connections with others in the field."
What did you like most about studying MT at Wartburg?
"I am most thankful for the friendships that I have made throughout the years at Wartburg! Support from peers and faculty has helped me grow both in my education and also in who I am as a person."

What excites you the most about music therapy/an internship?
"I am most excited for the MT and client relationships that I will build, as well as the skills that I will continue to learn that will make me the best music therapist I can be. I am looking forward to sharing my passion for music with many different people and their caregivers and families."
What did you like most about studying MT at Wartburg?
"One of my favorite things about studying MT at Wartburg was the people that I got to study with! I learned so much from my peers, and I can't wait to see the difference that they will make in the future."

What did you like most about studying MT at Wartburg?
"I enjoyed being around supportive peers, professors, and supervisors. Everyone at Wartburg has made a positive impact on me. I was able to practice what I learned and receive feedback that supported my journey to having confidence in practicing for my future internship and career in music therapy."
"I believe that advocacy is very important in the field of music therapy! I will be presenting at a local library in October to explain what music therapy is and advocate for the profession."
