Have you had any interruption’s or delays today? I met Kelly when she was lost and needing direction’s. She was on a quest to find affordable rental housing for her own employee. She immediately shared what a great employee she had and how she could not bear the idea of him soon being unhoused. It was her mission to help him.
As we talked, Kelly noticed the tiny shelters and asked how they work. She was excited to hear how our city partnered to address homelessness for the most vulnerable men and women with these shelters.
This opened a new conversation about Coordinated Entry. I was able to explain how CE assists people who are at risk of losing housing find housing.
I admire Kelly’s commitment to be part of a solution. It was great to meet Kelly and to have given her resources to share with others in need. Imagine what would happen if each of us paid a little more attention to the people we work with, live next door to, sit next to in church, get stopped in the driveway by or ride the bus with. Each of us has knowledge and helpful information to share that actually solves problems for others. It’s a choice to notice, engage, listen and help others. It was my pleasure to be interrupted and used for these purposes today. God bless you Kelly and may you continue to be an example of how to help be part of the solution!

Do you know anyone needing housing assistance?

Good morning we just wanted to say thank you to several groups/people who stepped up to pray, help in the kitchen and donate food. All the way from Quincy yay! We are still asking for your support. Volunteer spots and meals spots are still open.
Additional Praise report is, our staff is still well, and no new COVID cases in the building. Thank you Jesus!

Things to know:

Current Kitchen crew is Covid free. The public is not entering our building so it’s a much smaller crowd to feed and or be exposed to.

Most needed:

Disposable plates, cups
kitchen prep/dishes/cleanup help is from 9am-7pm. If you can only come for an hour, we’ll take it.

Food donations dry packaged, frozen, oven ready, or prepared are welcome at anytime. If 60 servings is not in your budget, 10-20 servings is still helpful. We will take it and combine with other items we have available. Anything is helpful.

Good evening everyone. We have shut down our main building for a little while as there are several positive Covid cases.
Please pray for those who are already sick that there may be mild symptoms and speedy healing. Please pray for the vulnerable folks who really aren’t well enough to fight this virus again.
Please pray for our staff to be spared, we already lost the kitchen staff and volunteer crew.
We are also at the mercy of a scheduled power outage on Wednesday morning and our dishwasher is out of service until next week.

We are asking for donations of paper plates, paper bowls, plastic cups, to keep germs to a minimum while we clean up after meals. Kleenex, cough drops, vitamin c, water bottles, acetaminophen, ramen, squeezable applesauce, 7up to soothe those without an appetite.

We would also like to ask for simple prepared hot or cold food for about 60 people if you know a store or restaurant who might be able to arrange that for lunch or dinner over the next week or so. We just got Wednesdays lunch covered as I’m writing.

Thank you in advance for prayers and support.
Volunteers who are feeling well are welcome to help us serve in the kitchen. We can’t do this without you!
