Please welcome Petra Hernandez to the Write on the River Board of Directors!

Petra Hernandez is an author, reader, and lover of tea. You can often find her writing, reading, taking walks, talking story ideas with her favorite person (her husband), binge watching her most recent favorite program, or buying books to add to her TBR bookcase. (It most certainly no longer qualifies as a pile, it is a bookcase.)

Right now, she's adeptly planning the October BookFest, bringing authors and writers together.

POETS: Airline Press is excited to announce their open reading period for full-length poetry manuscripts by poets in the Pacific Northwest.

From July 1st through July 31st, 2024, they will be accepting submissions of full-length poetry manuscripts from poets residing in the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska) who are willing and able to commit to a three-year term of doing the shared work of running a collective press. Accepted manuscripts are published in the second year of the three-year term. Entries are accepted via Submittable.

From Airlie Press:

"We encourage poets to familiarize themselves with the titles we have published throughout our 15-year history before submitting their manuscript. To view our catalog, visit our website airliepress.org.

We are actively seeking diversity in our publishing list. Airlie Press seeks to highlight marginalized and underrepresented voices in our publications and among our membership, and to that end we encourage submissions from poets of all abilities and sexual orientations, and from across all cultural, socio-economic, ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds.

We offer two $1,000 stipends. One $1,000 stipend is available to anyone for whom the time and duties associated with serving on our editorial board would present a financial hardship. Our second $1,000 stipend is open to anyone who identifies as BIPOC. To be considered for a stipend, please note your interest on the Submittable form."
