West Point BOSS Program
Monthly BOSS meetings are held every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 1730 inside Buffalo Soldier Pavilion (628 Hodges Place).
The Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS) program supports the wellbeing and overall quality of single soldierโs lives, providing them with opportunities for recreational and leisure activities, and helping them engage with their community. The BOSS program completed a two-day course to become certified lifeguards. On Day 1, they covered CPR, First Aid, and AED training at the Buffalo Soldier Pavilion. Day 2 involved testing their knowledge at the Combat Pool inside Arvin Gym.
The BOSS program took a trip to Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in New Jersey to beat the heat!

Last weekend BOSS soldiers took a trip to Smugglers Notch Resort in Jeffersonville, VT. With slopes as high as 3,640 ft and a resort area covering over 310 acres, soldiers got to ski and snowboard on a relaxing 4 day vacation away from West Point. If you would like to attend fun trips and events like this come out and join us for our monthly meetings held the second Wednesday of every month or reach out to a BOSS representative for more information.
March 22nd thru the 25th, join BOSS for our Annual Ski Trip to Smugglers' Notch Resort, featuring 78 trails on 310+ acres! โท We will depart in vans from Buffalo Soldier Pavilion (628 Hodges Place) at 8am on Friday, March 22nd.
Cost is $220 per person (due at sign-up). Rental equipment is available thru Victor Constant Ski Area (pickup on March 21st). Ski or Snowboarding lessons are also available (a 2 hour lesson on the first morning only) for an additional $50. ๐
Winter activities include: Snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and ice skating. Night snow tubing is included in every package. โธ

BOSS celebrated New Yearโs in Times Square, with gratitude to the Wounded Warrior Project for hosting a complimentary dinner. The NYPD es**rted us to a special viewing area to witness the ball drop. Many thanks to our hosts!
We are excited to announce that BOSS is headed to Times Square to ring in the New Year! We will meet at the BSP at 1600 to drive down to the Wounded Warrior Project office for a FREE dinner. After dinner we will walk to Times Square with an NYPD es**rt to a special viewing area to watch the ball drop. November 5, 2023 BOSS had a friendly paintball competition. Paintball is significant for team building because it simulates real-world scenarios where effective communication, collaboration, and strategic thinking are crucial. The intensity of the game requires teams to work together, fostering trust and enhancing interpersonal relationships. The experience promotes leadership skills, adaptability, and problem-solving, making it a dynamic and engaging way to build a cohesive and resilient team.

The BOSS Executive Council has two open positions available and is currently accepting applications. Soldiers can impact the community by organizing opportunities for their peers and engaging in community service initiatives. Those interested need to fill out the application form provided and submit it to a council member or MWR Representative at [email protected] by December 6 to be considered. Applicants must possess clear communication skills to interact with their chain of command and fellow soldiers, aid in promoting events, participate in bi-monthly council meetings to plan activities, attend monthly BOSS Program meetings, and support BOSS Program activities. Selected individuals will receive an official Memorandum for Record from the Garrison Commander appointing them to their role for a year.
Join MWR in celebrating the Holidays at the yearly Holiday Tree Lighting at the West Point PX. MWR needs assistance with handing out Carol programs and aiding in the Trees for Troops tree distribution after the event.
