West Point Professional Firefighters

The West Point Fire Department was dispatched to a male off a cliff at the rappel site off Route 293. Upon arrival Squad 3 hiked in with a stokes basket and packaged the patient for a haul up the cliff face about 100’. The Crews from Truck 1 and Rescue 1 rigged a system and lowered one rescuer to the victim. The victim and rescuer were raised to the top where the victim was transferred to Keller EMS for transport via helicopter to Wetchester. Time from arrival on scene to patient transfer to EMS was 16 min.

Today Firefighter Arthur Lanzer was honored for his 25 years of service to the United States Goverment and the West Point Community. Congrats Artie.

Yesterday West Point Firefighters visited the CDC for story time. Inspector Ferraiuolo along with Deputy Chief Woods and members of Engine 1 read a story to the kids which was followed by a walk around Engine 1 and a visit with Sparky.

West Point Brownie troop visited Fire Station 1 yesterday to complete their First Aid badge. The young ladies also were given a chance to see the newly updated fire station and check out the fire apparatus.

West Point Station 1 is back in business after a much needed restoration. Station 1 is once again home of Engine 1 and Rescue 1. Thank you to the West Point Garrison, DPW and MICC for making this project happen.

Congratulations to Firefighter Mike Ambrosino, his wife Ericka and their daughter Emily on the birth of Nicholas James. Born March 8th 2024 @ 9:00am.

This morning the following department members were recognized for their efforts on 2/7/2024. The call in which a paraglider lost control and became entangled in a tree line which left him suspended approx. 50’ in the air. Each member was presented a coin by CSM Fraser. Nice work fellas.

This morning the West Point FD conducted training with New York Truck Work Fire Tactics. Members conducted training on forcible entry , search/rescue and entanglement along with “ what’s in your pockets”. It was a great morning of training.

This morning just after midnight E1 was dispatched mutual aid as a FAST team for a reported residential structure fire in Fort Montgomery. E1 arrived second due and was immediately put to work. The crew from E1 conducted primary searches and assisted with suppression and ventilation. There were no injuries and E1 was back in service by 3am.
