Todays Awesome Robb Show was a barrel of laughs! Nothing beats hearing a crowd of seniors laughing, especially on a cold winter day. Thanks to everyone for coming out and The Friends of The Council on Aging for bringing this event to the center!
Tonight the Weymouth Elder Services staff completed our two hour CPR and defibulater re-certification class. Even though we will never need it (wink wink), we are ready!
Black ice everywhere. Please be careful seniors!!
Happy New Years from all of us at the Whipple senior center! Friday we had our last grab n’ go of the year with over 300 seniors driving through to pick up a celebratory Chinese dinner to ring in the new year. We also delivered to a few home bound seniors in Weymouth who we are alwyas happy to see! Looking forward to a great 2024 -
Christmas is over. Find out where you can relax and catch some great live music The South Shore and nearby towns are full of live music, including Aldous Collins Band, Adam Ezra Group, Dalton & the Sheriffs and Divas with a Twist.
Todays Grab n’ Go was a complete Ham Dinner purchased using grant funding from Previte’s Marketplace! We are wrapping up the year of events with one more Grab n’ Go next Friday, happy holidays to all!
Yesterday was our first Sing-A-Long event showcasing the talents of our seniors. Holiday tunes were played on piano by Randy Cushing as The Whipporwill Choral Group lead the room in singing the classics for the season. Dee’s muscle in motion dance group performed a few numbers with choreography by Nancy Palmer, and our talented social dancing instructors Ray Brennan and Brenda Kelly showed off their social dancing talents. These entertainers showcased just a few of the many programs offered at the senior center.
Seniors who attended were treated to homemade hot cocoa by Denise Ray, homemade cookies by Karen Johnston, and more cookies purchased using a food security grant from Konditor Meister.
If you were not in the holiday spirit yet, this event was the perfect opportunity to bring in some holiday cheer!
Family Feud today was a roaring success! Over 70 seniors dropped in to play a new version of the popular game show. The winning team walked away with prizes but everyone left with a smile on their face
Today it is a nice 54 degrees outside, but inside it’s just the right temperature for creating handmade snowmen!
More fun from today’s holiday party!
Our second holiday party is a wrap! Today was the same meal as yesterday, roast pork, mashed potatoes, butternut squash, gravy, salad, rolls, and dessert - but with the entertainment of Magic Moments Live! We want to extend a huge thank you to our volunteers for making these 2 events run so well! A special thank you to our incredible Santa, who came all the way from the North Pole just for our seniors - happy holidays to all!
A little glimpse of the fun!
Getting in the holiday spirit with our annual Holiday Party! This year, we are hosting the party in house so we offered 2 days. This first party was a jolly success! We checked with Santa and all the seniors that visited today are on the nice list! See you tomorrow for round 2.
The first of the Friends of the Council on Aging’s annual trips to New Hampshire is wrapping up! They got the full experience with a snow storm coating the scenery of the vast space. Round 2 next week!
It’s the first of the month, you know what that means? Registration day for December events!
In 3 hours we signed up 388 seniors for 1941 seats at events, and we are still going! It’s been quite the busy morning but we are proud to be able to offer such popular events.
Getting in the holiday spirit with some wreath decorating today. We didn’t know we had so many professional wreath designers amongst our seniors!
