The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources and Massachusetts Department of Public Health have announced spraying for mosquitoes will begin in parts of Plymouth County and southern Worcester County in areas at high risk for Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE).
EEE is spread through the bite of an infected mosquito. In Massachusetts, the virus is most often identified in mosquitoes found in and around freshwater, hardwood swamps.
Risk Map and Reporting can be found on the State dashboard @ www.mass.gov/info-details/massachusetts-arbovirus-update -maps-

Vaccination is one of the best ways parents can protect infants, children, and teens from potentially harmful diseases that can be very serious, may require hospitalization, or even be deadly.
And immunizations are not just for children. Protection from some childhood vaccines can wear off over time. Adults may also be at risk for vaccine-preventable disease due to age, job, lifestyle, travel, or health conditions.
Check the CDC Recommended Vaccines by Age to learn more, www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd/vaccines-age
Remember heat and hot weather can kill. Never leave a pet or child unattended in a hot vehicle. If you see something, do something!
Animals can sustain brain damage or even die from heatstroke in just 15 minutes. Beating the heat is extra tough for dogs because they can only cool themselves by panting. Because cars heat up extremely quickly, never leave your pet in the car – not even for a quick errand.
It is recommended to NEVER leave your pet or child unattended in a parked vehicle in temperatures over 70 degrees. Opening or cracking windows will not prevent the effects of extreme heat.
