MAY IS HERE!! This is one of our favorite months 🥰 At AWFC, we LOVE being able to spend some time honoring and paying tribute to the remarkable love and strength of foster parents! Journey with us this month and celebrate all of the heartwarming moments of fostering! ❤️❤️❤️
We are taking some time today to celebrate these AMAZING individuals right here for this !!! They are truly the "backbone" of our agency and we could not do our jobs without them! THANK YOU for all you do to keep things running smoothly in all of our offices and for all of your support each and every day! ❤️
Since the start of this year, our agency was unable to place 108 children in a home in East Texas.
That is 108 children that needed a bed to sleep in, and we couldn't provide one due to the lack of foster homes in the area.
East Texas- which includes the counties of Angelina, Hardin, Houston, Jasper, Jefferson, Nacogdoches, Newton, Orange, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity and Tyler- are in great need of foster homes to place kiddos!

The community that our Wichita Falls office covers had 2,517 confirmed cases of child abuse and neglect in 2023. This month, we honor those victims and work to better educate ourselves and our community through activities and events. Together, we can prevent it. What can you do to prevent child abuse in your community?
April is here and it is Join us all month long as we shed a light on how we all can help to prevent child abuse in our communities. How can you help to prevent child abuse? 💙
Today for we are honoring one of our Wichita Falls case managers- Shelby Watkins! Shelby has been a case manager with AWFC since May 2020. She is a great team player, gets along well with everyone and is a fabulous asset to the Wichita Falls office! Shelby is always willing to go above and beyond for her families and co-workers. She has shown incredibly perseverance and growth as a case manager over the past few years, and she is a valuable part of the team. Outside of her role as a social worker, Shelby is probably best known for her love for dogs!

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and we need YOUR help as a community to help spread awareness!
Join us on Tuesday, April 2nd at 11 AM for the Walk of Knowledge to honor the children affected by child abuse in our area. This event will take place at our office located at 808 Austin St. Free lunch will be provided for those in attendance.
Last year, there were 548 confirmed victims of child abuse in Wichita County, 2 of which were child deaths. Child abuse happens every day right under our noses, and it's important to know the signs to prevent abuse and neglect in the future.
We hope you can join us!
We continue to celebrate and today we are honoring one of our Wichita Falls case managers- Julie Rueda! Julie has been with A World For Children since May of 2021. Up next for is one of our fabulous Wichita Falls case managers, Amanda Irby! Amanda is not only an amazing case manager and co-worker, but she is also herself a foster parent! She and her fiancé are currently foster parents to a little boy, and they are walking the same journey that she so well helps others to walk through every day! Amanda has worked with AWFC since 2020, first as a case manager, and now also as a Foster Home Specialist and Recruiter. Amanda is the true definition of what an advocate is- she is a natural at showing her love for what she does, and truly caring for our foster parents and their children! She goes above and beyond in her role as a case manager each and every day, and she is always thinking of ways to help and support her families.
