Please welcome interim T2T/MAT co-directors - Dr. Danny Bergman and Dr. Mara Alagic! Dr. Bergman will be leading the teacher licensure program (T2T) and Dr. Alagic will be serving as the MAT degree graduate coordinator during the 2024-2025 academic year. We look forward to their leadership and sharing their expertise in training new teachers!
T2T instructor, Corri Hernandez, is teaching the online course "Foundations of Education" to our year 2 T2T teachers this summer. "We are diving deep into the core principles that shape our educational systems, exploring historical and philosophical foundations, and examining the social and cultural contexts that impact our schools today. These T2T educators are change agents! While we are learning about education's past this summer, they are actively shaping its future!"🖤💛

T2T Where Are They Now? Meet T2T program completer Roger Bosserman. Roger is in his third year of teaching and has taught both business and culinary arts in the Wichita school district (currently teaching at West High School). Roger had over two decades of experience working in the restaurant management and hospitality fields before becoming a T2T teacher, which allows him to bring the real world into his classroom every single day! His advice for first year teachers is to "Figure out how to connect with your students and get them motivated through that connection. Jump out of your box and be involved. Have fun, this is a great time for the young people in your classroom and you get to be a part of it and their learning experience. Do it well." Another dedicated teacher making us Shocker PROUD! Amazing work Roger!!🖤💛
T2T Where Are They Now? Meet T2T program completer, Brad Scheutz. Brad is in his 8th year of teaching and currently teaches honors chemistry, aerospace engineering, and gaming concepts at Northeast Magnet High School in Wichita. He is also the esports coach for NE High and many of his teams rank in the nation top 10 in their respective games. Brad's advice for first year teachers is to "build relationships and get involved in your students' activities. Try to focus on the things that make teaching fun and don't worry about making mistakes because we all have room to grow!" Such wise words from a T2T teacher that makes us Shocker PROUD! Fantastic work Brad!! 🖤💛
📢 Update on Corbin Education Center Closure:
Due to extensive flood damage in the basement, Corbin Education Center will remain closed for an extended period of time. Early estimates are that Corbin will not reopen until at least September.
If you have classes in Corbin, stay tuned to Blackboard and your email for updates on instruction arrangements for the remainder of the spring semester. Please contact your instructor with questions about classes.

Next in our series of "T2T: Where Are They Now" is Kendra Reynolds. Kendra has been teaching for 7 years within the Wichita School District and currently teaches 7th grade social studies at Wilbur Middle School. She serves on the district Curriculum and Instruction team for 7th grade and is a part of the model classroom for new incoming middle school teachers. She covers breakfast duty and is the after-school supervisor for Wilbur's tutoring and detention program. She is currently working on her building administrator's license and hopes to serve students, school staff and the community in this capacity very soon. Kendra also serves as a model teacher for the WSU T2T program and allows prospective social studies candidates to visit her classroom and shadow/observe her for a day. Kendra is an AMAZING educator and she too makes us Shocker PROUD!💛🖤
Where Are They Now? Meet Brian Anderson a WSU T2T program completer that has been teaching for 10 years within the Wichita USD 259 school district (5 years at Mead Middle School and 5 years at Coleman Middle School). Brian currently teaches middle school science and math intervention at Coleman. He is the science team leader for his building along with serving on the leadership team and AVID site team. He covers breakfast and lunch duty and is currently taking ESOL classes to improve his teaching skills and promote life long learning. Brian's advice for new teachers is "to keep a persistently positive outlook and seek every opportunity to build and maintain relationships with students both in and out of the classroom". Fantastic work Brian, you make us Shocker PROUD! 💛🖤
T2T program/MAT degree completer Taylor McQueary not only inspires her art students at West High School (Wichita) to love, understand and create art, but she also beautifies our community with her amazing creations! She currently has pieces on display in the Abstract National Exhibition at Mark Arts and in the new Woolsey Hall at WSU. Amazing work Taylor!!

Learning to be creative and encouraging active student engagement, play very important parts in the journey to becoming a dynamic and highly effective teacher. Lesley Riddell-Koch, T2T agriculture teacher at Maize Middle and Maize South Middle Schools, uses both to foster an appreciation for and an understanding of agriculture in Kansas. We love the garden monsters!!
T2T social studies teacher Stacey Youmans has received a grant from the Credit Union of America as part of their outreach program for teachers! Stacey teaches at Jardine Middle School (Wichita) and will use the money to fund a field trip to the Cowtown Museum when her students study the Western Expansion this spring. Congratulations Stacey and thank you CUA for supporting new teachers!
Our T2T university mentors are the best of the best! By visiting classrooms and providing T2T teachers assistance with lesson planning, classroom management, teaching tips/tricks and additional resources, they play a vital role in the survival and success of our beginning teachers.
